Kenmore 3/4 hp Food Waste Disposer —

I got this disposal to replace an 8ish year old Badger 5 that came with the house. What a great step up. Noise-wise, it's quieter when actually grinding (operating noise is the same, as we have a thin stainless steel sink). It also doesn't flinch when given bunches of food to grind, unlike the old model. We regularly had flooded sinks because of clogs caused by potato and carrot peels. Not anymore. Installation is straightforward, with simple instructions. For the people who need a plug to hook theirs up: there are plug kits at Sears right where you got the disposal, and they're only $9.99. They're not included because that would raise the cost for the vast majority of people who hardwire theirs instead of using an outlet. Most people don't realize this, but there are only really a couple companies that manufacture disposals. The largest in North America is Emerson. They manufacture Badger, InSinkEerator, and Kenmore. The base model Badger 5 is the equivalent of the Kenmore 6011. 1/2 hp, no sound insulation, plastic grind chamber, galvanized steel grinding elements, 1 year manufacturer's warranty. Unless you're only getting the disposal to sell a property, do yourself a favor and bypass the base model for something with more power, stainless steel insides, and better performance. You'll be glad you did.
