This is my first experience with a front load washer, and we bought this one only because the top model old style was not in stock!! Am I glad it was!!! This washer is awesome and our water bill was reduced to nearly one-half!!!! There's only two of us at home now, but we seem to have as much laundry...

I bought this Kenmore in 2004. It stopped spinning in 2009, 2010 and now this weekend. Each time I paid over $200 for Sears to come out and fix the pulley and put in a new belt. This time, thank GOD, the technician told me to just buy a new one because the problem will continue. Apparently the shaft... read full review »

Kenmore 3.5 cu. ft. Front-Load Washer, White Reviews

The machine is good at cleaning but has a long list of pet peeves:

slow to get going - it spins, squirts water which then rattles my pipes, spins more, squirts water, rattles pipes, etc.

I'm concerned about tendency for front loaders to grow mold and have a gross smell so I leave the door and detergent drawer open after each use to dry out.

I can't get the lint trap at the bottom opened.

hair/lint sticks to the door and door seal.

it takes twice as long to wash my clothes

difficult to remove clothes from washer without dropping something on the floor as they all want to come out at once.

But...

I am so excited about this washer! It is really quiet and does a great job getting the clothes clean even with just the small amount of water it uses. It is really quiet once you get it level and looks cool to boot! One drawback is that I tend to try to overload it because the drum isn't as large as I am used to with a top loading washer. Another draw back is that it takes longer than I am used to for a load to complete washing. about 55 min but I think it is adjustable depending on how thorough you want it to wash. The price was great. Its difficult to find a front loading washer and dryer... read full review »

bought this washer and got it installed today. washed so far 4 loads of clothes in it and i love it. I put my kids winter coats, and snow pants which were covered in mud and they came totally clean. My clothes come out almost dry which is a plus. This is way better than my old top load washer, now i wont be spending one entire day doing laundry!!!!!!!!

Quiet and cleans well! I have had the washer for a little over a month, and am very happy with it. The cycles can be long, but are adjustable if you're in a hurry. It's great to be able to customize the types of cycle, spin level, and temperature according to specific loads. I also bought a matching steam dryer and the stacking kit. Delivery and set-up was very friendly and professional.

I did research before buying this washer and I was torn between this one and a more expensive one that had a little better rating. When I went to Sears to buy this was on sale for $500 and the other washer was $1,500 so I figured for the price difference this would be great. I am so glad I bought, it has been a great washer. This is my 3rd front loader I have owned. The others were nice but not as quiet. I have also loved how all front loaders hold more clothes and this one is no exception. I can fit my king size bedding including mattress pad in one load. My only complaint with this washer is... read full review »

Not Good

I bought this washer 2 years ago. It had intermittent fault codes come up. Last week it quit working all together so I had a Sears tech come out and take a look at it. He said it has a defective switch and wiring harness. I did some research and found this to be quite common with these machines. I would definitely recommend researching the common problems these washers have. If you do decide to buy it make sure you get the extended warranty because there is a good chance it will break down after a year or 2.

We recently purchased this Kenmore washer and matching electric dryer and are very happy with our purchase. I love the Express wash cycle- with a family of 5 there is always someone who needs something washed "right now." This washer does deserve the outstanding Consumer Report rating. A little water does remain in the detergent cup and drawer. I just take the cup out and flip the water out- not a big deal at all. The entire drawer comes out easily to dry out the water once a week or so. The main thing I want people to read.....REMOVE THE SHIPPING BOLTS!!! We picked up and installed the appliances... read full review »

Kenmore is not a bad product, it's the HE washer. I have two kids and a load of clothes takes 50 minutes to over an hour. Where is the energy savings? Not my electric bill. If you don't wash and wipe it out with bleach every few washes, it will grow mold and smells!!!! Once again, proving "going green" is a joke. I'm selling this washer to some green freak and going back to a regular kenmore washer

We bought this washer in 2007. We had always owned Kenmores and loved them, and this is the washer that will keep me from ever buying a Kenmore (and maybe buying from Sears) in the future.

The computer panel started making beeping noises within months, and the Sears technicians suggested that we just continually unplug it and restart. Climbing over the washer every few days was not appealing to me. We had paid for the Master Protection Agreement, and finally we insisted they replace the computer panel.

That fixed the beeping, but the start button became harder and harder to push. Sometimes we just...

This machine washes clothes very well, It is quit most of the cycles you can hardly hear it running, but there is one cycle that is a little noisy not. Like most of the reviews you do have some maintenance, like draining the soap tray that gets about a shot glass worth of water in it. We just pull it out and dump it in the sink. You also should dry the door seal and inside of the door. We leave the door open to air it out after using it but close it later. There is a screen and drain on the bottom that needs to be checked for debris. It comes with a quick guide with a suction cup  that you can...

We bought one of these after reading about it in a consumer magazine.  Excellent washer!  The only negative thing is the door is not able to be hung on the right side and there is no light in the machine.  It is quiet and extremely good at what it does.  Cut drying time by half!  We did have another brand of front loader, but after 8 years, the bearings were going out and it became noisy and inefficient.  First Kenmore appliance and we love it.

I bought one of the washers and dryers after good reviews from ****************. The washer, overall, does well for getting clothes wash and saving on water. There are several problems though with these washers.

  1. The controler board often fails - which controls the cleaning of the washer. This is a frequent issue, one that Sears/Kenmore does not seem to have a desire to actually fix. The net result is that in time, if you leave the door close, you will get mold/mildew inside of the drum ring which will become very tough to clean.
  2. Small objects, such as coins & infant socks, somehow get sucked...

I bought this washer and loved it.  It really cleaned my clothes wonderfully.  The features were great and I saved money on water and detergent.  BUT... It started leaking after owning it for just 4 years.  I had the Sears repair man take a look at it and he said the part to fix it would be almost $600!!  I paid $69 dollars for him to tell me that!  I'd never buy another one!
