Kenmore 30 in. Electric Self Clean Slide-In Range with Ceramic Smoothtop Cooktop —

Helped my senior-citizen parents research this range purchase, including in a major consumer publication. We are all completely happy with this choice. Sears installation and haul-away was first class: speedy, incredibly professional and knowledgeable, and painless. Controls are easy enough for seniors to figure out, but sophisticated enough to do what we need for our more-gourmet cooking. Range and oven meet our sophisticated cooking needs and parents' simple needs. Range and oven both heat up quickly and do a great job. The white ceramic cooktop cleans incredibly-easily with the provided cream and soft scrubby. It's really a miracle product: when the range cools after a day of spills, even if the stuff looked really baked-on, all you do is wipe the cream over it with light pressure on the scrubby, and make several light strokes over the most baked-on areas, and the gunk comes right off. I was concerned that the seniors might have a problem with it, but after several months, they have no trouble keeping it clean and shiny. You DO need a set of totally-flat-bottom pans suitable for use on a ceramic top in order to get the best heat transfer. I found a tri-ply flat-bottom set certified for use on ceramic top, a great buy at another retailer, and it works wonderfully and looks great on this beautiful stove. We also have tremendous confidence in Sears service, which we use for all our appliances, regardless of brand, and find them to be quick, professional, and HONEST, at least here on Long Island, NY. We will likely be buying Kenmore for our replacement appliances in the future, based on how happy we are with this excellent range.
