Great looking unit but that's where the good news STOPS!
I bought this unit from Sears in mid 2005. Now, after only two years, the Magnetron has burnt out and the unit is worthless. The expense to have Sears repair the unit exceeds what it would cost to replace. Note that I am single, travel a lot, and this unit has gotten minimal use. There is a product quality issue here! I am a loyal Kenmore appliance fan, but this item is a major disappointment!

My wife and I bought an older house in the fall of 2004. We replaced all the kitchen appliances in early 2005 with the exception of the refrigerator--and still haven't replaced the fridge yet. (bye bye Harvest Gold). We picked out this microwave because it had all the features we wanted and it was in our budget. It wasn't too difficult to install. Here we are not even three years later and it all of a sudden stopped getting warm. I called the service technician to have a look at it. The replacement parts ALONE cost more than the entire microwave did new!! Poor design on the Magnetron!!! Sears only...

I bought this in the store at sears. I am totally happy with it. The
installation went easy....The microwave has all the features and more than I would use..... The angle vents on the top are easy to wipe off and was really happy with the shelf inside...first time I ever warmed pizza using the pizza cycle and had it not come out rubbery. You put it in and it senses when its done...no more using the oven to get left over pizza warmed...The handle is made out of
the same stuff the micro is...my other one was not and yellowed after a couple of years....This one looks great and cooks great...

The overhead light is WAY too dim. The fan doesn't suck the moisture coming off a big pot of boiling water. I'm going to try to vent it to the outside. It's got a HUGE cooking area. A shelf? I've never seen that before. Works great. I might have spent a hundred more on the next model up that has stainless steel on the top of the unit just for looks. You get what you pay for. Step up a notch.

I purchased my microhood to replace one that had broken. I have been extremely happy with my decision. The young man that came out installed it in a short time, checked it thoroughly before he left, even putting a large glass of water in the oven to check the buttons. He also warned me about variations in temperature. I've been very happy with my purchase.

Just installed. Replaced a 20yo Sears microwave (still working). Seems to be fine - except: the exhaust fan will not turn off. Heated a cup of coffee - 30 sec., microwave fan came on, then exhaust fan (room vent) started and has been running for over one hour. CAN NOT TURN IT OFF!!!
Service has been called and will come to check it in a week or so.
This device may be headed back to Sears. This is a new microwave and should not be repairned in my home.

This microwave has an extra shelf so that you can cook two dishes at the same time. This comes in handy for holiday meals when you need to get many dishes ready at the same time.
It also has a "Keep Warm" feature. That is a new one for me but sounds like it will be useful.
It has the Express Defrost, Auto Reheat, etc options that I use often.
The only downside: When you pressed buttons 1-6 on my old GE, it automatically cooked for 1 minute, 2 minutes, etc. This one, you have to press "Add a Minute"...not a big deal though.

I ordered this microwave in beige. Had it installed last week, and when I pushed the buttons to start cooking, there is a distinct clicking noise when the microwave starts.
There are about 4 or 5 quick clicks.
I had never heard a microwave do this before. It also clicked when I stopped the cooking. I asked Sears about this and they wanted to send a repairman out. I told them I didn't want repair, as this was new out of the box and shouldn't have issues already.
Well, I just had them order a new one, as the salespeople assumed there may be something wrong too. I brought the new one home, and you...

This microwave lasted only 15 months before the magnetron went out. Limited warranty only covered the parts, but labor costs $190 for 30 minutes worth of work! Sears has a sliding labor charge and only charges what they can cover the cost of warranty! Bad idea Sears!

This is a great machine at an affordable price. It has a shelf, so I can warm more than one plate, or dish at a time, and even turn the turntable OFF from spinning, so I can put a big 13" X 9" cassarole dish, and not have it go ka-thump! ka-thump! ka-thump!
I also love it has 5 speeds for the fan, from slow to real fast.
Now, as for the "click click" sound, when starting and stopping it, ... it's SUPPOSED to do that! That's a mechanical relay going on, when you turn it on, and off. Nothing more. It's not broken, nor is it defective, if yours does that. They ALL do that "out of the box".
So it's...
