Have had this cleaner for 3 years and it works great.
I have severe nasal allergies and several indoor pets. This air cleaner has greatly improved the air quality in my home. I placed it in my bedroom and have been running it 24 hours a day for over 2 years. It is very quiet, even on the higher settings. I've changed the pre-filter every 3 months and the hepa filter every 14 months and have had no problems with the unit.
I am a true reseracher when it comes to appliances and this was one of the best rated air purifiers. I bought it because the pediatrician strongly recommended it for my son. We have a pet and this purifier makes a huge difference.
It is super quiet and the Hepa filter is necessary if you want clean air, which this machine has it.
I would reccommend it any time! besides you get a top quality appliance for the money.
Although I live in the high desert, I never thought about air purifiers until a friend recommended this unit. I was so happy with the first one I put downstairs, I bought a second one for the master bedroom. Having seen how well this unit works and the amount of pollutants filtered, I have ordered a third unit for my office. You don't need to have allergies, wildfires or pets to appreciate how much stuff this unit removes from the air. I change the pre-filter three times per year, and the HEPA filter about every eighteen months. There's no reason to consider any other similar unit.
I just bought this air filter after researching Consumer Reports. I am confident based on CR and other reviews that I will be happy with this system. My problem is with the instruction manual. It is very bare bones and does not give specific information as to how often the manufacturer suggests it run. Also, the styrofoam protector in the back of the unit by the fan was curious and I wasn't sure if it was "packaging". The manual said nothing about it, so in it stays. I have the 295 upstairs next to my bed and got this larger capacity unit for downstairs in my living/dining area.
With the fires in southern California right now I need a way to make sure my asthma doesn't get out of control and I can stay comfortable at home. I'd left my windows open for a couple days with the smoky air, and was wheezing when I got home from a day of work and picking up this unit. I unpacked it, put it on TURBO for about an hour, and my wheezing stopped on its own without medication. My throat stopped burning and my eyes weren't as irritated. I purchased the Progressive 335 based on recommendations in a leading consumer product magazine for smoke filtration. I use it in combination with a self install top of the line furnance filter. I was so pleased with it's performance, I purchased it's smaller sibling the 295 for smaller rooms such as bedrooms or basement. This Kenmore/Whirlpool product is the best room air filtration system I've found at a reasonable price, well worth the money.
p.s. I have more fishing time and less dusting time for the wife !
My biggest complaint is the cost of the HEPA filter. I've been an owner 3 years now, and it's time for a new (my 2nd) replacement HEPA filter. The price has continued to go up to where the paper element is currently $109, which is a very substantial cost, though at my heavy usage rates, the filter lasted about 13 months. However, after years of trying filters (I am an allergic-asthmatic), I have to say this is the best one I've ever used, it's easy to maintain, very quiet except on it's highest setting (which moves A Lot of air), in sleep mode I can't hear it and the electrical costs are low. I have allergies to dust and pets (and have both in my house) and this filter is by far the best I have ever owned. It is much quieter on full speed than my last one was on low, and it removes allergens from the air better. It has been running 24x7 in the bedroom for over two years, and I have noticed an improvement in my allergies and have had no problems with the unit.
We have two cats and my fiance is allergic. We bought this air purifier to try reduce pet dander and it works great! You can see how clean the air is--no flying particles and no difficulty breathing for my fiance. The best part is that it's so quiet--which was a concern of mine with buying such a large component. The other purifier we had made too much noise and wasn't very effective. Plus, we had to buy filters much more often than we do now. The only criticism I have of our new purifier is that it's not so great looking, but that's minor in comparison to its advantages. I would definitely recommend...

I have 4 dogs, 2 cats and one bird. I have a lot of pet dander. This picks up so much. Nothing flies through the air now. It is rated number one for a reason. IT WORKS. It is an awesome air cleaner.
I would recommend it to anyone. It really moves and cleans the air. It is a great product. I have two and intend to have more. I think it is quiet but I like the sound it puts out. It is a wonderful air cleaner.

My son has some problems with environmental allergens. WE are so pleased with this unit. The filters are easy to change and reasonable. It really has been a good investment. It is for a large room so we placed it in our TV room. I purchased this particular model because it was rated the best by CONSUMER REPORTS. We plan to buy one more...
Note: when fan is on Turbo it is a little loud, but we rarely use it on the highest level.
Works extremely well! I purchased this unit after reading several reviews about a decent amount of the other highly ranked AP units deciding that this one was going to be the one and I haven't regretted it a for a moment since. It's whisper quiet on low, you can still watch a movie when it's on medium without turning the TV volume up which is excellent because I live in an apartment. High and Turbo settings are a understandably noisy for how much air this thing kicks out. My feline, mold, and mildew allergies are no longer bothersome. This has helped to alleviate my severe perennial allergies. It is quiet, it is efficient, and it works. It has been on for two years almost continuously. I have it in my bedroom so that I can sleep in comfort, and I am planning to get another one if I can think of where to put it in the living room.
The only thing I have against it is it's massive size! Which, I suppose is why it is so efficient but it takes up a lot of space. It is a very plain and functional looking unit, and it does its job very well.
I recommend it to everyone.
Seems to work okay...A lot more noisy than my previous machine. Have not had long enough to determine the real effectiveness.
