Kenmore 40 gal. Tall Electric Water Heater (32946) —

I have a Kenmore Power Miser 9. Model # 153.32946 Serial # G04136386. I purchased the original unit in Nov. of 2003. I replaced it due to leaking in Jan 2005. In 2005, Sears was superb in honoring the warranty. Today the unit I have started leaking. I called the retail store I have frequented first and was told I need to call the "water hot line" 1-800-469-4663. I did and got another number to call. I then called the service # 1-800-251-5630. I was told that it will cost me $75 to have someone come out to tell me it is leaking. (MMMM I think I know that due to the water all over the floor) Then they tell me the technician can only come 9 days from now. You tell me if this is an honorable practise of servicing a warranty. I told the individual on the phone that this was unacceptable. I asked to speak with his manager. After several minutes of waiting he came back on and said he tried to get the service tech to do an emergency call. Since the tech had gone home already, I need to call tomorrow and see what can be done. Stay tuned for an update! Until then don't bet on your warranty being worth anything.

Update on progress. Talked to Sears, they are now coming to inspect the water heater tomorrow. It will cost me $65-75. let's see what happens tomorrow.

In continuation. The technician arrived, called ahead, which was appreciated, and did what he needed to do. I did get the receipt to get a replacement heater. The heater was in stock so it is now replaced.

I am glad there was no issue with the replacement. I was not happy that it cost me $75 and a couple of days without hot water but things are back to normal now.
