Kenmore 40 gal. Tall Natural Gas Hot Water Heater (33124) — 

I've read numerous reviews of water heaters, Sears and many other brands, before settling on this one. Many of the reviews mentioned issues with pilot lights not staying lit, and one day after installing mine; I woke up this morning to very luke warm water. I went out to the garage and yep - no pilot light. It relit immediately and the burner came on, so now I'm going out to check it about every two hours today to see if it stays lit. If not (today's Sunday) - I'll be on the phone to Sears tomorrow and will then reconsider this purchase.

Made it to month 8 before the first service call. Pilot would not stay lit after releasing the pilot lighting button. New gas valve/thermostat; fortunately under full warranty so no costs, just a day without hot water. It has been recommended to me to get the extended warranty.
