The Kenmore 50 gal. Medium Height Electric Hot Water Heater (32666) works perfectly as advertised. Installation was easy, the directions were clear, and it has worked well from day one. The hardest part of the whole process was removing the old water heater and getting it to the curb.

Very poor performance

This water heater typically produces lukewarm water - even with the thermostats set high. The only time we get hot water from it is within an hour after it's been drained of the lukewarm water (such as after a long shower) and has had time (45 minutes or so) to reheat the tank. It seems the only time... read full review »

Kenmore 50 gal. Medium Height Electric Water... Reviews

3 yrs old, has worked well until this past month. Now it trips the internal breaker every night, has to be reset and wait 45 min. for a shower. Water temp is 120*. Very aggravating. Looking for a solution without having to call a technician.

I received the water heater at the local Sears store in Livingston, Texas.  They checked if for any indication of damage and loaded it into my SUV for its trip to my home.  I changed the lower element from 3800 watts to 5500 watts as indicated possible.  This was a very easy conversion.

I installed the heater in about 30 minutes (after draining and removing the old water heater).  It was a snap to install and connect to the electrical power.  I turned the heater on and checked the hot water temperture the next day.  It was about 110 degrees, a little to cool for me.  I set the thermostats...

Hot water is one of my favorite things especially since I live in the very cold state of Maine. When my water tank went Sears came right over and installed a very nice 50 gallon power miser hot water tank.It keeps my water nice and hot for those cold and not so cold times that i need it.Thank you Sears!

it's hot

My model number may not match the one on the website, but I have the Kenmore Power Miser 12 (12 means it’s warranted for 12 years), 50 gallons, 320592, electric water heater which we have been using the past 9-1/2 years without problem. I was able to self-install this heater, a matter of connecting the power and the water inlet and outlet lines. I remember when I first connected it, we had hot water within about half hour of turning on the power. To prolong the life of the heater, I also installed a water filter to the inlet line. When I had removed the old water heater, I removed the heating...

Considering it's electric, 40 gallons didn't go too far...like my last water heater.  The difference the extra 10 gallons makes is absolutely amazing!

However, I'd suggest buying the self-install kit, as opposed to paying for a Sears' contracted plumber.  The number of issues I had, including a loss of ALL household water, due to shotty workmanship, were astronomical.  Ask around with friends, and coworkers.  ********** will even show you the easier connector to use, compared to what never would have needed replacing in my own home, had he used the simpler--and more effective--method.

Kenmore Power Miser 5

This heater was purchased a year before i bought the house. I know cause i helped put it in. I have owned the house for 14 years. I have replaced only 2 elements since i have been there. and leaks? None here. Not only that but no rust anywhere on the unit. I would recomend this water heater to anyone. It may not be the same one but it is close. But thinking of replaceing it because of age just in case. Garranttee it will be this one.

No hot water

The unit has been installed for one day, replacing a Kenmore that was still working after 22 yrs, still no hot water. Set the temps higher, water is hot, then cold within seconds. Very unhappy with this unit and Sears products.

Good results

Reason for purchase: the brand X that came with our vacation house sprung a leak after being 10 years old. After seeing the low rating and reading the negative reviews I was hesitant to get this model, but the dimensions were perfect for what I could fit in my space. I'm glad I bought it because it was a snap to hook up (electric unit) and although I've only had it for a month, it works perfectly... plenty of hot water and quick recovery. I installed a Sears electric water heater in my other house many years ago and also installed one for my neighbor a couple years ago. I have no complaints whatsoever... read full review »

I bought this water heater based on its specifications and price, despite some of the poor reviews shown here. The dimensions of the heater and the positions of the water and electrical hook-ups were similar to my old heater so installation was easy. This heater is excellent value for money and mine works without any problem. The thermostats allow adjustment between warm and scalding. The relief valve never blows. Unlike one reviewer I have never had a problem with the pilot light. Was never able to find it but was not too concerned as this is an electric heater. You can pay a lot more for a heater... read full review »

Good product

Very satisfied. Lasting over 10 years before element replacement needed.

Thermostats went out

The unit kept tripping off due to water getting to hot. Sears would not provide new thermostats without charging me for labor even though it is a five minute "do it yourself job". The hot water heater is only 20 months old. The last hot water heater in the house lasted 31 years without any problems.

good water heater

It is a good water heater, good price ($229), enough for 4 people taking a shower (both termostat set at 130F), easy to install (same as any). So far, i would buy this water heater again but that it just in my case.
