“One of the Best”

Kenmore 50 gal. Tall Natural Gas Hot Water Heater (33157) — 

We started our research regarding purchasing an Energy Star Water Heater about one year prior to this purchase, because the one we had was over twelve years old and on its last leg. Wanted a high efficiency Water Heater with a great warranty and company history, since there are only a few companies that make these heaters. It was somewhat interesting to find out which one, we stood with a good company that would stand behind its warranty. Sears did hit that list, second I wanted a respectful and trusted company which I found out made this Water Heater. Actually this was rated as one of the top three companies that made Water Heaters under the Kenmore brand. This heater was very simple to install, and only cost an extra forty or so dollars for an extra necessary installation kit and a Monkey wrench which was available right from Sears. It does weight around 160 lbs, so you might need an extra arm or two, however it was not that difficult to install. I also purchase a larger Water Heater then my old forty gallon, this is a fifty and cost the same or less then the forty to operate, so its worth the time and effort for a larger tank. Do not worry about the gas hook-up I found it simple and fast, which does save about two hundred and some dollars in professional installation cost. Also I have heard a lot about the automatic ignition system not working correctly, so far no problem here, started right up after a few clicks like the instruction indicated due to air in the line. Remember to be extra careful here, but I will come back later and let everyone know if any problems does or have arrived. I do urge you to purchase a new water heater this year if you need to purchase one, styles and some changes are coming in Water Heaters that will surely add more cost and some installation issues. This Water Heater is worth the cost and the time in installation, Made in America 2008 and it is one of the top three I checked out. Home Depot has a GE that is somewhat comparable but not the warranty, about the same cost, and this baby is good and has an extra rod, and is also self cleaning. Just cannot beat this, good luck and remember be careful in installing. God Bless America.
