I have had my machine for over three years. It has never broken down and still works like a champ. We put everything in there and it washes beautifully. This is a great value!!! I highly recommend this product!!!...

I have had this washer for two years now and it has been wonderful. It was purchased back on Black Friday in 2009 bundled with the Kenmore 500 7.0 cu. ft. Electric Dryer for $495 which was a steal. Both items have performed great.

The only issue we ran into a few months back was in part of our laziness. If you do not clean the dispenser where you pour fabric softener, your clothes will be stained by the softener. This issue is easily resolved by simply cleaning out the dispenser basically with a paper towel, soap and water. Other than that, it is a great washer with a large capacity and highly recommended.

This machine was purchased in 2009. It is very noisy and the transmission has gone out on three occasions. I have always purchased Kenmore products but this washer is a failure. Do not purchase this product.

This little beauty is easy to use! The wife only had to show me once! It was a great value for the money, and as I mentioned, the features make it easy to use! This machine features large tub capacity and is space efficient. The appearance of the machine is modern but not a technical nightmare. When washing clothes this machine is efficient, and quiet. We especially like the express option for a quick wash! Laundry comes out clean and fresh! Every time!The second rinse is a great option as well. We do miss not being able to select a seperate water temperature for the wash and the rinse. The Heavy Cycle has 4 terrific settings : Super, Reglar, Light & Express and can handle anything! The Normal / Casual and the Delicate Cycles also feature Regular and Express Cycles! Very Nice! This machine is a Durable addition to our laundry room. Great price, Great machine!

I've had the Kenmore 500 washer almost a month now, and I have no complaints. I love this washer, it's so fast and efficient. It's also much more quiet than our last washer. I would recommend this product to anyone! The only problem I had was the associate who sold us the washer said it would fit a queen comforter easily, and while our queen comforter fit it was a little snug. But other than that I love my new washer!

Yet another appliance we bought when we first moved into our home. We have had a couple issues. First of all, this washer is very noisy. Our laundry is in the basement, and away from the bedrooms, so this isn't an issue for us, but might be an issue with a first floor laundry room. From day one (after Sears installed the washer) we have had issues with rocking and vibration. At one point I woke up from a dead sleep thinking our house was collapsing... it was the washer walking across the basement floor! Multiple adjustments later, we haven't had a problem in a while, but it still vibrates horribly. Also, I frequently have to clean the fabric softener holder as a nice slime tends to build up in there. I've pretty much given up on using fabric softener all together, which is obviously one solution to that problem! Despite these issues, overall this washer has performed well, and over the past 3 years we haven't needed a repair, or had a major issue. A good budget buy....

This Kenmore washing machine is a workhorse. It is the sturdy type of appliance that you expect from Sears. While it does get the clothes clean, it is extremely noisy! I do not recommend it for an interior laundry room. The noise is too loud for the inside of the house. I imagine that if we had it in the garage, we would still be able to hear it, but it would not cause the ruckus that it does in the house.

I also have a problem with the water temperature and getting the soap to dissolve. The fix is to allow the machine to fill up about 2/3 of the way with water, let it agitate for a bit with the soap, then add the clothes. If you do this, the clothes come out clean and bright.

We have owned the machine about a year an a half.

My wife and I got this unit, along with the Kenmore 500 Gas Dryer, about 2 months ago. So far so good really does sum it up. It fits a lot of clothes, but considering we came from using apartment washers I guess anything seems like a lot in comparison. SEARS installed it fast and effectively. The price was the most competable compared to that of ********, Howards, and even SEARS Outlet. It does the job without a lot of bells and whistles. Personally we did not an auto load senser to avoid any problems of low water levels, and also being able to add to it if needed duirng a cycle. We like top loading since it makes more sense not to have to bend over all the time.

We're both happy, and hopefully so far so good will continue on for many years. We would recommend this product to friends and family. Don't get caught up in the hype of having to have a "cool" looking washer and does so many things. All that means is so many things can go wrong.

After reading the reviews, I was hesitant to buy this. However, our 21 year old Kenmoore 70 series had quit and I needed a replacement fast. Being on sale, I had to chose quickly. The higher models turned me off to the auto water level thing. So I got the 500.

It is no louder than the 70 series I had. Install was easy-did it myself. Make sure you get both yellow shipping straps from the back out! Easy to see, and remove-just pull. I made sure to level it perfectly. Have run a huge backlog of clothes, and it works well. It is simple, and definately washes chothes well. Doesn't bang or scream or any of the complaints that I read. Does thump when changing gears, but so did my 70 series from day one, and it lasted 21 years! As to the hot/cold water issue, my 70 did that. I let it fill the tub 3/4 before throwing the clothes in (always did that,lets the soap mix well,too). then the temp is where you want it. Does a great job on my work clothes. Like that the lid opens from the front, the old...

If some of you are hesitant to buy a Kenmore based on some of the other reviews you may have read, you needn't be. I just bought a Kenmore 500 and I think it's better the the two previous models that lasted our family for 47 years. I can't tell any difference in sound level between the new Kenmore and our old one except for a 'clunk' when the direct drive shifts to the spin cycle. However, I can't even hear that from the kitchen table where I have my morning coffee while the the laundry. The spin cycle is so quiet I can't hear when it stops and now have to watch the time to know when to move the laundry to the drier.

A comment about the temperature control: When on the "HOT" setting the washer initial flows from both the hot and cold lines, then flows hot only for a while and back to both and continues to alternate. However, the rinse seems to be cold only. I haven't tried the other temperature settings yet.

Its great for the price it holds a extra large load. Which I use everyday. I like the top loading washer verses the front loader your not bending down all the time.

We read lots of reviews and were very confused, but ultimately we settled on purchasing the Kenmore 500, and I must say I have been very pleased with the purchase. It sits in our laundry room, but I have not noticed any problem with excessive noise level. It was quick and easy to install. It cleans the clothes and rinses efficiently. It has actually saved on drying time. It was a good purchase for the money, but also for any price. Glad that we got this one!

We had our new Kenmore Model 500 top-loader delivered three weeks ago. It works just great. It's so nice to be able to select our own water level and use regular soap. It is simple and convenient to use. The instruction manual was helpful. It doesn't seem noisy to us and is doing a great job cleaning all our laundry (including, recently, a good batch of floor rugs.

We are especially happy that a good, standard washing machine is still available. We had succumbed to the high efficiency hype (from the eclectric company and the news media) and had bought a high efficiency, He2 front loader three years ago. That front loader was a bad experience. With the He2, we needed to use tiny amounts of special soap; we needed to rinse towels twice to get out the soap; we needed to iron clothes more often since the front loader high speed rinse twists the clothes at high speed. With the front loader we needed to leave the front door open when not in use and had to do a special rinse...

I purchased the Kenmore 500 a few days ago and am very sorry I did. It does have all of the features I wanted and cleans the clothes very well, but the very loud noise it makes spoils the whole purchase for me. Even in my laundry room with the door closed, the noise is troublesome in our living room. I really don't understand why any company would take an otherwise very good product and make it into a terrible purchase by not allowing for a reasonably quite machine. Unless you plan to place this in an outside detached garage, I would not recommend this appliance. Sorry Kenmore, you blew it!!!!!

After using the Kenmore 500 for several months, we have been satisfied with its performance. However, we were surprised at its noise level. Our laundry room is just inside the back door next to our kitchen. The noise from the washer can be heard well into the den on the other side of the kitchen.

An edge was slightly dented when we took this washer out of the box. We didn't think much of it. You couldn't see it and we had tons of laundry waiting to get caught up. The first load left the top including the panel virtually unattached to the rest of the washer. This thing is held together by what I would describe as CHEAP PLASTIC CLIPS. NOT METAL SCREWS. Our mistake was not taking this back immediately. We talked ourselves out of it because we figured they would blame us for refusing to have it delivered. We duck taped it and did more loads but used only the delicate cycle. The spin cycle- even on delicate- is so violent that it caused many more of these plastic clips to break. At this point the entire washer is duck taped together. Yesterday was the last straw. The washer had been leaking and we thought it was the drain hose but it wasn't. The cheap little funnel thing that hangs over the tub and fills it with water had come loose and half of it was hanging away from the tub...

If you are thinking about a washing machine that really gets the clothes clean and is not going to break the bank, then this machine is for you. My story is..WHATEVER YOU DECIDE, STAY AWAY FROM THE FRONT LOAD WASHERS. 3 of my neighbors have them, each a different brand and hate them.

2 years ago I spent about 2000.00 on an LG front load washer with all the bells and whistles and what a piece of **** it was. Supposed to be energy efficient, but it took 2 hours to do 1 load of clothes in the heavy duty cycle, not to mention washing in a tablespoon of water. After several months my husband said that his clothes seemed to smell after he wore them for awhile. Long story short, I sold them for a huge loss to go back to the top load washer that would let ME decide how much water I wanted to use for each load of clothes.

I will say this washer is noisy but, I would rather have 20 minutes of noise and know that my clothes are clean. I try to wash during the day when I can turn the radio...
