Kenmore 508.75121 —
We purchased the Kenmore 508.75121 last year to replace an ageing Amana unit. It was lighter and easier to install and seems to cool faster. It was very easy to use with the remote control and is quite quiet. But... the controls went haywire 1 year and 2 months after our purchase (warranty is 1 year on controls). The temperature control failed. With the temperature set at 86 it keeps cooling, and cooling, and cooling,...! We have to turn it off periodically to try not to be frozen out. The Sears repairman came today and told us the repair will cost $197.00 (plus $7.08 for the part including tax). The unit has a 5 year warranty on the compressor, but not on the controls. This was our first, and probably last, Kenmore product.
[[ I probably should have added this long ago, but we were reinbursed by Sears for the cost of the repairs after several emails and phone calls. I have upgraded my review from 1 to 4 stars. It was originally 5 before the failure. It continues to work fine. ]]Last edited on Jun 20, 2011
