Good product

We've had our ice maker for one year and so far it works great. The ice is always plentiful and perfect. I ended up installing the too expensive pump kit because the gravity drain is so close to the back that I could not make it drain through the floor because of the joist below the outside wall. Not the best

I have spent almost $750 in the past week getting my not quite 3 year old ice maker up an running again. This could be due to the lack of competence on the repairman's part, but they did have to replace the control board ($245), the cutter ($225) and pump ($250). Had they diagnosed all at once, I would... read full review »

it eats ice cutter grids

HAD THIS ICE MACHINE FOR 4 YEARS, EVERY SINGLE YEAR WITHOUT FAIL UNIT NEEDS NEW ICE CUTTER GRID. {STAINLESS STEEL WIRE SNAPS FROM ROTTING OUT, POOR DESIGN. ALSO HAD A NEW COMPRESSOR AND EVAPORATOR PUT IN 2 YEARS AGO. TOOK SEARS 4 SERVICE CALLS BEFORE I GOT A TECHNICIAN WHO NEW WHAT HE WAS DOING. COST TO REPAIR $700.00 PLUS. I HAVE EXTENDED SERVICE AGREEMENT SO NO CHARGE. I NOW KEEP A EXTRA ICE CUTTER GRID AND REPLACE IT MYSELF YEARLY. I BELEIVE THIS UNIT IS DISCONTINUED WHICH IT SHOULD BE. GOOD LUCK

Great Item

We have used this item without any problems. Our Church does all kinds of Fairs and other things and usually spends $500 or more in ice per event. This machine has saved us Thousands. GREAT ITEM.

WORKS FOR ME

I purchased this product in 2005 and the only problem I have noticed is that a fan runs sometimes. I usually turn it off an back on later put it in the clean mode. Not sure what the problem is, but it makes really good ice.

Only had about 2.5 years. Had many troubles always over 300.00 to fix...of course the service fee for Sears on top of that is high too. Definitely would NOT recommend.

We have a Sears ice maker out in my studio and had a cheaper one in the house.  It didn't last long and now we have bought the 2nd one for in the house and I am so thrilled with that decision was made.

Ice Maker is Outstanding!

This was purchased several months ago for an office of about 45 people. We go through a lot of ice every day but this ice maker has kept up with the demand and we've never run out of ice! It is easy to install and plumb.

Warning

This ice maker has spent more time broken than working. So far, I've replaced the thermostat, water pump, and CPU at a cost of a new one. It still doesn't work properly as now the water valve has gone out.

I put this in our home 2 years ago. During the 1st year, it only worked sporatically and I had to have a service man come and replace some parts. Shortly after the 1 year warranty ran out, the ice machine quit. The cost to repair is greater than a new one but I certianly wouldn't replace it with another Kenmore. It was the worst appliance we put into our new home.

Ice Maker not needed now; ready to sell

This ice maker was no problem at all. It was in our beach house and never needed repair. We are selling it now since we no longer need it.

Get the Hosizaki Undercounter !!

When I built my home in 2003, I put a new Kenmore ice maker in the kitchen. It worked for almost 3 years to the day and then quit in October 2006. The cutter grid broke and then the compressor went out. Too costly to repair! These units are made by Whirlpool and are priced so low because they are junk. I replaced the Kenmore with a Hosizaki AM-50BAE at $1300. The quality in workmanship was evident from the minute I took it out of the box. If Sears want's to keep the positive name recognition behind the Kenmore brand, they should look into getting someone else to make their clear ice machines.

Iceless in Georgia

I have had nothing but problems with this Icemaker. It has been broken more than it has been working. I have replaced the evaporator, dryer and valve not once but twice in the first year.

Icemaker that makes no Ice

I have had this icemaker for almost one year. It has made very little ice. It stays broken. I have replaced the evaporator, dryer, valve and it will work for a little while and then quits. This has been the worst appliance I have ever owned. I would recommend the Kitchenaid Icemaker which seems to work much better.
