We installed this air conditioner in our family room, a 12 x 15 add-on to our house that a previous owner built with sub-standard insulation and poorly designed ductwork. As a result of its construction, cool air from the central A/C either doesn't make it to this room, or just gets overwhelmed by heat... review »

This was the worse air condition I ever had. It is so noisy everytime it comes on it wakes me. or worse it's hard going to sleep. I'm returning it have to can't throw away money I wouldn't use it if I kept it. Maybe there is something wrong with it I don't know but i'll take my chances with another unit.... review »

I ordered this AC through Sears.com with free shipping. The unit arrived cracked.. (I blame UPS). Customer service offered to send UPS back to pick it up and then ship me a new one, I decided instead to drive to Sears in Yonkers NY and exchange it myself. They gave me awesome customer service, exchanged with no hassle. Came home, easily installed the bracket (you'll need a drill). The unit itself is pretty light and has carrying handles on the sides to make it easier to transport. Performance - The AC runs great. Very, very quiet fan. I almost didnt realize it was on before I left to go out. It... review »

We needed a lighter weight unit for a second floor bedroom. Wrestling our medium sized one in and out every year was too hard, and it shut off every time we had a power dip. We liked the low-profile look and still don't understand why there aren't more of this type. Officially, this AC is undersized for our room, but we face north and have very high quality windows so it does well enough. Yes, the front grill did start to rattle some, giving us a chance to play detective. A little foam or piece of felt solved the problem. We accept this as the tradeoff for an all-plastic unit, since the plastic... review »

The A/C is perfect for our bedroom. It does humm, but it's tolerable. Be aware that it blows the air up versus straight out to the room. Your blinds or curtains may need to be adjusted to allow maximum airflow. Anyway, we replaced a 10,000 BTU that was old and needed service with a new 6,000 BTU. Our electricity bill dropped tremendously. Purchasing the A/C was worth it.

I have central air but I like to sleep in a cooler environment, so I decided to get a small window AC to cool the bedroom down further for sleeping. My choice of widow AC units was limited due to having replaced my double hung windows with energy efficient windows having an opening space of only 13.5" height to work with. I saw this unit and decided to try it out. The unit was simple to install (but I had to be a little creative with shimming due to my windows). It is pretty quiet (about equal to a fan on medium speed). There is a lower frequency hum when the compressors kicks in, but that does... review »

Read countless online reviews from stores (Sears, Best Buy etc.) and from every googleable website that compares air conditioners. I tried the 5,200 BTU Kenmore (quiet but not very powerful) and a 6,000 BTU Frigidaire (loudest A/C Ive ever owned, worked OK otherwise) and returned both and bought this one. This is QUIET and it WORKS and though it isnt super cheap you get what you pay for and more. It was just about able to cool off two bedrooms, a bathroom and a small hallway at the same time, on a 95 degree, humid day. Not bad for an energy-efficient 6000 BTU "low-profile" AC. I would rate it a... review »

I bought one of these between 3 and 4 years ago. It did get heavy use during the summers; I installed it per the directions, I cleaned the filter regularly and did everything else I knew of to do for maintenance. Lately it had been doing a strange sucking or slurping sound while it was running, and I noticed the air flow was diminished even on high fan speed. I shone a flashlight down into the vent where the blower fan is, and discovered that the blower fan was moldy and disgusting. I took the front casing off and attempted to get to the fan in order to clean it. There is a motor shaft and the... review »

I have never written a review before so this in of it self should tell you how pleased I am with the unit. I purchased this June 2008. Installation is a simple matter of pulling it out of the box sitting it in the window and closing the window. Sure you can connect a mount and attach window locks but I didn't need to and love the fact I can put this thing away in 5 minutes.

Style - this unit is less than ½ an open window high and very modern looking. It sits out about 3 inches from the window sill. It easily blends into the room and can be hidden by curtains when needed. The unit protrudes...

The good: We have bought 4 of these: (2) three seasons ago, (1) 2 seasons ago, (1) this season. The model is largely the same from one year to the next. They are very efficient air conditioners for 6k btu you get the cooling of an 8k+. They do not draw air from outside, but rather continuously re-cool the inside air, which is how all window air units should work, IMHO, but don't. The oldest ones we have still cool with their full power, no degradation. We leave them running pretty much constantly from june through august. The barrel fans are quiet and move air well. The air deflectors push the... review »

I was looking for a window unit for our bedroom / office space which is 450 sq feet. Having never owned an air conditioner before I went looking on the Internet and found many calculators to determine the right BTU's. Each calculator told me something different. One thing was clear though, too big equals quick cooling which leads to a damp and cold space. I honestly wanted to buy the Kenmore 76081 because of the consumer reports rating but the window I wanted to put it in is a bit small so I wound up with this model. One of the walls faces due west and gets lots of afternoon sun. Let me tell you... review »

Purchased in May of 2008 to use in large bedroom about 275 sq feet. Very quiet running especially when fan is on low. No problem sleeping with unit on. Also fits windows wider than listed in the description. Mine is 38" wide and fit was no problem. Was glad the remote was included , very handy assessory. Unit is a well constructed quality appliance and worth the price. Is exactly the same as the LG model. If you need a quiet running air conditioner this is the one to get.

Very easy to install, particularly since it only weighs 40-pounds. Low profile also allows more window light into the room and is not unattractive from the outside. The sound is not objectionable to me, but note I typically do sleep with a sound machine on anyway if the a/c is not running (and I run it with the fan on so I always have the noise). The cooling performance is very satisfactory.

My son purchased this A/C just in time for the heat-wave. He has a basement apartment and with the low window height, this was the ONLY A/C that would fit. Couldn't believe it when we installed it. The easiest A/C I've ever installed. Cools off the room ASAP and is whisper quiet. I also like the design of the vents being on top of the unit. I'd recommend it to anyone !!!!!!
