Kenmore 8.8 cu. ft. Chest Freezer (1694) —
Kenmore 8.8 cu ft chest freezer in black is a great value. I shopped around for days, looking for freezers, and reviews both on freezers and delivery. Some reviews on other stores quoted freezers being damaged in freight. But sears delivery was superb, and no damage to my new freezer at all. Its worth the extra money for the black finish, and it also has a temp alarm in which the white one does not. It is very quite, only noise you hear is a click ping when the compressor comes on. You can not hear it even hum, unless your ear is right down to the side where the motor is. I did turn it up one notch colder above the facotry setting. In over 10 days now since it was new, only has limited tiny amount of frost. But then I only open it quickly get what I need. I dont use the key to lock it , no child in my house, but if I did they only fault I see is that the key is made of plastic which will break after wear and tear, this should be made of metal. Hm, plactic key for a metal lock. Strange. Anyways, it is a fabulous freezer well worth the price. I use it in my duplex apt. I have a regular fridge, but as most fridges the freezer is too small. As we all nowdays like to buy in bulk sales on meats, this freezer will accomodate a single or small family well. The slide baskets are great for holding small packages, and there is lots of ample room in the rest of the freezer to fill it with lots of meat or other items. Suggest you buy a good vacuum food saver also , especially if your portion sizing, or even just keeping any meat or items fresh and no freezer burn.Also dont fudge about buying a service contract, that will guarantee your freezer in case something does go wrong. So far no lemon here. Delivery personnel was great. No damage or dents. One last thing, buy a freezer thermometer,and place it inside, just to monitor, so you know how cold it is getting, but the freezer alarm will let you know if it gets to warm. Thanks sears kenmore for this freezer. ps a drain to hose adapter would also been nice to have been included, but look around at hardware stores if you need one.
