In looking for a 8-12 cubic foot chest freezer, this freezer from Sears had the lowest price and best set of features. I looked at all the major brands. And we all know that all freezers are manufactured by one of three companies. For me the most important features included variable temperature control, interior light, exterior power on light and locking lid. There is little difference in energy consumption between energy star and non-energy star freezers so that wasn't a factor in my decision. I would also like to get a temperature alarm, but I'll just buy an inexpensive wireless temperature... review »

I watched this freezer 4 months, because I just can't pay full price 4 anything. Nevertheless my mom say's I talk about this freezer like it is my new love and it is. I garden every year and make my own sauces, my new love is just great and the 2 baskets work GREAT. I can even store my compost, seeing how I can't get into my back yard thanks 2 all the snow here-n-MI. Most of my home consist of Kenmore products and I must say I have always been satisfied, no complaints-2-date...........

I wanted to down-size from a 13 cu. ft. freezer when I moved and this one is just right for this chapter in my life. I too noticed frost building up in a month and keep an ice scraper (used for windshields) in my freezer to remove it before it builds up alot. The price was the best I found for this size and was available right away.

My retirement gift to myself - I did a lot of research on freezers and learned that Kenmore is rated #2 in Consumer Reports. That was good enough for me - I bought it online the day after Thanksgiving, got a great deal and was able to choose the delivery day (12-15-08). Since then I have saved so much money that I figure the freezer will pay for itself in less than a year. VERY roomy - 2 baskets and a light which is invaluable. I had what I call an "apartment size" freezer - about the size of a dishwasher and it just wasn't big enough. It still ran fine - I just needed more room so between the... review »

It's not so big that we lose items and not so small that we can't easily fit over-size pizzas. I appreciate the sliding/removable baskets and wish there were three baskets instead of two. But that's a moot point. My only real concern is that the unit seems to have no suction. When I lift the lid on the closed unit, I can do it with one finger and there's absolutely no resistance. (Imagine pulling on the handle of your refrigerator and it too-easily swinging wide as if you'd just opened the cover of a worn book.) We're more and more concerned these days with efficiency; with making our dollars stretch... review »

I am very pleased with my purchase of a Kenmore Chest Freezer. Now when I am food shopping, I have the convenience of stockpiling frozen meats and other frozen foods that are on sale. The removable baskets make toting your frozen items very convenient and the generous interior lighting makes finding your items a snap.

Very pleased with this mid-sized chest freezer. Lightweight and easy to manuever into and around basement. Seems to stay cold on its own, quiet compressor seldom runs (or at least I don't hear it). Light on outside, makes it easy to check that freezer is operating (without having to open the door).

Quick and easy set-up, fast leveling. It fits 1/2 a pig and 1/4 of a cow with room to spare. Awesome for the price. Would definately recommend this one!

it is not so wide that I cannot reach things in the back as I am vertically challenged. And it fits well in the small available space. The baskets are great and I guess the only thing I would change is the plastic key.

This freezer is the perfect size! We wanted one large enough to house a lot but not too large so that things get lost in the shuffle. This fits the bill!

I got the new Freezer because on having the Kenmore Name I replaced the freezer that we had because it was over 40 Years old and it was a Kenmore also and it was still running but it was taking alot of power to run it but I can tell you that they will never make them like they used to

Great freezer. We weren't sure about the stand up versus the chest freezers and ended up going with this model. Tons of space, holds the temperature well and is lightweight when empty. Frost build up, which was one of our cons as far as chest freezers has been minimal thus far.

After owning the same freezer that I paid $50 for in 1982 that already had 30 years on it, it was time for the old girl to retire. It was one of those great large chest freezers. Although it cost lots to run it, it held up well during the freezing cold winters in our garage. Finally when it could not function in winter any longer, I went on line (on a Saturday) and had delivered on Sunday my new best friend; although smaller, it is very quite, cold and enough room to adjust to the smaller (8.8) size. Confident that my sauces, breads and wild game will be safe and tatsy for year to come, this freezer... review »

I have had this freezer for several months-it is great! Very quiet and I haven't had to defrost it yet. I love the small outside size, but it is very roomy on the inside.
