We've owned this humidifier since January and overall I'm very pleased. This humidifier does what it says. Our house is about 1700 sq. ft. finished and it maintains the humidity above 40% without a problem. Just place the unit by a cold return vent. No more dry skin or static sparks. I fill the bottle...

Only One Complaint

We were very impressed with this humidifier and all its features; however, after several hours we realized the unit did not provide an accurate humidity reading. We compared the reading to two other humidity meters in the house and verified the inaccuracy. The humidity sensor is located on the power... read full review »

The Best

I've owned several humidifiers and this one is the Best. I love the filling bottle! You don't have to worry about touching the fill cap because it doesn't go into the water on the unit (Unlike others). The plunger at the bottom releases the water really fast into the humidifier, so you're up and running right away. Easy to carry. I thought the one review about getting the filter in right was a good bit of advice, but have not had issues getting the filter to fit in properly, so I am happy there too. A few people complained about the sound when on high, but any fan makes that kind of noise on... read full review »

Very quiet on low fan speed!

I use this humidifier in the bedroom at night with a house that has a forced hot air heating system. I can run the fan on the low "F-1" setting and the fan noise level reads 60 db sound pressure level measured at two feet away from the unit. The noise floor in the house at the time of measurement was 57 db so there was very little fan noise at all! Switching to "F-2" the fan noise increased to 70 db (twice as loud) which was quite audible but not unbearable. And "F-3" was another 10 db louder, (80 db) and reminded me of walking past a running jet engine while departing an airplane: Too loud to... read full review »

kenmore 8 gal humidifier

I like this humidifier, however the humidifier thermostat is incorrect. It was showing 98 degrees of humidity when in fact it was only 60. It is very quiet. I don't know why they built the thermostat so close to the place where the fan is blowing out the mist. I had to return the sucker because of that reason. Too bad.

Worth every penny!

I have a nine month old baby that has continually kept a cold this winter, so we decided to purchase a humidifier because the humidity in our house hovered at around 17%. We have had this unit for a little over a week and his nose has really cleared up. Our house is about 1300 Sq. Ft. and this unit seems to be perfect for it. I am glad that we chose to get the 12 gal. instead of the 8 gal. for only a few more dollars. We like the automatic mode and have used it consistently. We have a humidistat in our home and the one on the unit is usually within 3% of ours. The whisper mode on the unit is really... read full review »

Darn decent, but not a knockout

I have had my humidifier for a couple months now and overall, I like it. I have stuggled to find a humidifier that could keep the humidity in my large bedroom and bath comfortable. I suffer from very dry eyes and sinuses and the dry air does a number on me! It does a good job of keeping my room comfortable, but like other reviews have said, the meter is too close to the unit for an accurate reading. I just have to set it based on comfort level, which for me is around 45-50 in the winter. This is irritating, but I can live with it. I wish it held more water so I didn't have to refill it so often,... read full review »

FILTERS!!

The humidifier works great but the filter needs to be replaced at least once a month at a cost of 18 bucks! I would look for a model with a washable filter or a cheaper filter.

Works good

I have had this unit for 3 heating seasons and it has worked as advertised. I have used steam humidifiers and they last just one season before the heating element burns out and cool mist units but with the cool mist you get dust from the water. The reason I gave it just 4 stars is when the unit shows say 52% my humidistat shows 44% and when the fan is on high it's noisy.

fantasitc and quiet

I have the 12 gallon version I've been using for over a year and it is great... took about 2 weeks to get the humidity all the way up while filling the water bottle 3 times a day, I assume because it was so dry in the house the carpet, furniture and everything in it was sucking up the moisture.  Since then it stays consistent around 50% (what I set it at) and I fill the bottle only once a day sometime, twice a day others.

Anyways, the bedroom at the back of the house wasn't staying humid enough because I don't run the furnace enough to keep it totally distributed, so bought the 8 gallon per day...

works great

I bought this humidifier to keep the living room, where I have lots of orchids, more humid, since our climate is dry. It works as advertised and is quiet. I wish the tank was larger so that I didn't have to fill it so often.

5 stars

I really love this humidifier. We upgraded from a cheap hot steam humidifier, and it's a world of difference. The humidity feels natural, and the tank holds enough water to run continuosly for a few days without lapse. We tend to set the humidity pretty high, and use the auto setting to keep it constant. The only drawback is that the fan can be a bit noisy when on the highest setting, so we had to move out of the living room where it was frequently distracting. We live in a small apartment with radiator heat, so the "whole house humidity" concept--where you place the unit near the cold air return--doesn't... read full review »

Kenmore 8 gal. Humidifier

Just purchased the humidifier, a spare filter & a bottle of bacteriostat today. Set the machine up per the directions in the owners manual and it's running fine. I placed it in the living/TV viewing room where we've been having problems with static electricity caused by the low humidity, the room is more comfortable now and there's no more static-zap every time I touch metal. This unit has a humidistat built into the power cord that controls the on/off operation of the fan, this is the feature that sold me on this humidifier, you set the humidity level you want in the room and every now and then... read full review »
