Great product. I fill it 3 times a day, and run it 24x7 from October thru April and it has outlasted several other humidifiers.

If you always use filerted water, it requires less cleaning. And the life of the filter pads can be extended - when it needs changing, rinse it (to remove dust) and turn over. Then when it needs replacing again, soak in bleach and water to clean and reuse one more time.
...

Due to a medical need, we need to try to keep 50% humidity in our home. Because we have zoned HVAC for our 85-year old home, decided to go with 2 of this smaller model humidifier rather that the larger model. The upstairs unit serves primarily about 350 sq. ft. in the sleeping area and works beautifully on F1 at 50% humidity setting. We choose to use F1 to prevent the loud fan setting you get for a while when you use the Auto setting. The HVAC vents are in the ceiling on this level which seems to help this unit keep up with the higher humidity setting. NOTE: We use an additional cool mist humidifier at the bedside (with distilled water to prevent the white dust) for focused humidity during the night.

On the main level, the same 350 sq. ft. space opens into the front entry, stairway up and dining room (adding about an additional 350 sq. ft.). I can't tell if the unit may be a bit undersized since it has to run much more to achieve 50% humidity...it could be due to the additional space, the...
...

I bought this humidifier when my wife and I lived in a 1 bedroom apartment with a loft. This humidifier took care of our entire apartment which had a high cathedrial cieling. Pro's it holds a lot of water which can last almost an entire day depending on how high your humiditiy is set for.

Has a max humidity of 65% and minimium of 25%. And the three fan speeds plus automatic is a great feature for us. Usually I keep it on a level 2 setting which is not too large. At that level it creates enough of a steady noise that helps me go to sleep.

The level 3 fan is pretty noisy...can't do much about it.

The unit's base holds enough water in it so that you can run the unit while refilling the removable reserve tank. You will occasionaly get that "glug glug" sound as the water in the reserve tank replaces the water that has been removed from the base.

Probably my favorite feature is the automatic drying out feature when it runs out of water. You don't have to worry about the filter getting...
...

We have had this unit for 8+ years, and it's still going strong. When we moved to a bigger house, we got another one. That's been 2+ years, and it's still running! I got the 12 gallon model for my in-laws in North Dakota based on my experience with the 8 gallon one. I have tried many hot, cool and ultrasonic humidifiers over the years - this is by far the best compact unit out there. I agree the humidistat isn't all that accurate, but that's to be expected of any measurement taken that close to the output source. Make sure you have air flow to distribute the humidity - we leave the HVAC fan going to make that happen.

For those of you having trouble finding filters, just order any 26 x 8 x 1 wicking humidifier filter - it'll work just fine. I get mine from filters-now.com. They have this size, or will custom cut to your specifications. They're also a lot less expensive!
...

Bought this humidifier about 4 years ago. It did a great job with very little white dust in the air. I put it in the living room and even though it is not a "whole house" humidifier, it did a great job keeping my family and house plants healthy. I had it on F2 and wasn't bothered by the fan noise. Years ago, the filters here were more expensive, so went elsewhere on the net for them.

Last fall, seeing that this humidifier wasn't working anymore (I suspect it was due to the inside needing cleaning - lots of visible dust - but the user is not able to get in there to do anything about it. Too bad.) so, we decided to purchase a fancy, expensive, "antibacterial" silver type humidifier (having a name of a country that has the Alps mountains in it) to replace it. If you think that these Kenmore replacement filters are expensive, you would not believe the cost of all the replacement and cleaning items needed for this silver one! Anyway, it still "works" this year, but being shocked at the fine...
...

We've owned this humidifier since January and overall I'm very pleased. This humidifier does what it says. Our house is about 1700 sq. ft. finished and it maintains the humidity above 40% without a problem. Just place the unit by a cold return vent. No more dry skin or static sparks. I fill the bottle once a day. We set it on auto and it does the rest. When the fan kicks up to a higher speed, it is a little noisy, but I can live with that. The bottle that is filled has a draw back, you can't fill it under a kitchen sink, you have to fill it under the tub's faucet, again I can live with that. We haven't bought a new filter yet, I guess the filter is to help stop the white particles from flying around the house. I haven't tried running the humidifier without it to check if this actually works.

Would I recommend this product to family or friend? Yes.

Would I spend the money and buy it again. Yes.

I have the 12 gallon version I've been using for over a year and it is great... took about 2 weeks to get the humidity all the way up while filling the water bottle 3 times a day, I assume because it was so dry in the house the carpet, furniture and everything in it was sucking up the moisture. Since then it stays consistent around 50% (what I set it at) and I fill the bottle only once a day sometime, twice a day others.

Anyways, the bedroom at the back of the house wasn't staying humid enough because I don't run the furnace enough to keep it totally distributed, so bought the 8 gallon per day version for the bedroom... on F-1 fantastic, so quiet I can sleep with easily... and I am a very light sleeper.

Notes...Took the 12 gallon one back 3 times before I got one that worked right... first had been opened and returned and was moldy in the box... second was missing parts (another return)... third on read 92% all the time and wouldn't shut off properly (NOTE on this, I took it apart to...
...

plaistowbusinessowner says "Very quiet on low fan speed!" about Kenmore 8 Gallon Humidifier

I use this humidifier in the bedroom at night with a house that has a forced hot air heating system. I can run the fan on the low "F-1" setting and the fan noise level reads 60 db sound pressure level measured at two feet away from the unit. The noise floor in the house at the time of measurement was 57 db so there was very little fan noise at all! Switching to "F-2" the fan noise increased to 70 db (twice as loud) which was quite audible but not unbearable. And "F-3" was another 10 db louder, (80 db) and reminded me of walking past a running jet engine while departing an airplane: Too loud to sleep with even when the unit was in another room. So, you won't be able to use the unit on automatic because when it starts up at F-3, it will wake up even the most hard-of-hearing person in your household. The good news is, you don't need the high fan speed because it works great at the low, F-1 setting. Keeping the humidistat set @ 50, my Sahara Desert bedroom turned into a cool, tropical garden!......

I've owned several humidifiers and this one is the Best.

I love the filling bottle! You don't have to worry about touching the fill cap because it doesn't go into the water on the unit (Unlike others). The plunger at the bottom releases the water really fast into the humidifier, so you're up and running right away. Easy to carry.

I thought the one review about getting the filter in right was a good bit of advice, but have not had issues getting the filter to fit in properly, so I am happy there too.

A few people complained about the sound when on high, but any fan makes that kind of noise on high. I keep mine on whisper and turn up the humidity to 45. That is plenty for my 1300 sq.ft. home which was terribly dry before.

Cured my constant throat & nose issue....

I have a nine month old baby that has continually kept a cold this winter, so we decided to purchase a humidifier because the humidity in our house hovered at around 17%. We have had this unit for a little over a week and his nose has really cleared up. Our house is about 1300 Sq. Ft. and this unit seems to be perfect for it. I am glad that we chose to get the 12 gal. instead of the 8 gal. for only a few more dollars. We like the automatic mode and have used it consistently. We have a humidistat in our home and the one on the unit is usually within 3% of ours. The whisper mode on the unit is really nice and barely audible; however on the medium and high modes it is REALLY LOUD. This does not really concern us because we, as a family, sleep better with white noise in the background. Filling the unit is really the only negative as far as I am concerned. The tank is not easy to fill in any of our sinks and has to be filled twice to completely fill the humidifier. I would definitely recommend......

I have had my humidifier for a couple months now and overall, I like it. I have stuggled to find a humidifier that could keep the humidity in my large bedroom and bath comfortable. I suffer from very dry eyes and sinuses and the dry air does a number on me! It does a good job of keeping my room comfortable, but like other reviews have said, the meter is too close to the unit for an accurate reading. I just have to set it based on comfort level, which for me is around 45-50 in the winter. This is irritating, but I can live with it. I wish it held more water so I didn't have to refill it so often, and I don't like how you have to fill the tank twice to completely fill it up (the first fill empties in to the base and the second is what stays in the tank). But, it is quite quiet, which is nice. If you had to use it in a much larger space where it will run on high, it would be really loud - the one time I put in on high it was VERY loud.

I have gone through a number of humidifiers, and at this......
