First, the vertical cooking elements keeps them away from most dropped grease and basting material. This is a very high positive feature and the only reason to purchase this model over others. It took a while to unpack and assemble the grill...about 2 1/2 hours total. Some of the instructions have the add-in sheets, so it was definitely something to do without distractions.
It has been an excellent grill, and heats up fast. Steaks were volunteered as the first item, and they were SO GOOD!! I don't have to worry about going out for a $20+ steak anymore, I can make them perfect steakhouse quality right at home. For parties, you can cook lots of food (different stuff all at once) and not worry about making it 'cajun style' (that's normal in my house for burnt!). Definitely a worthwhile...

I bought this for my husband for his birthday. It was a surprise, so I had to do all of the research myself. We used it this weekend. It was really hot, and cooked really fast. My brother in law assembled it, and he said that he assembly was a nightmare - but I think that it was worth it. We also bought the grill cover and have it under a canopy in the backyard.
We bought a new home just over a month ago and purchased this grill along with our other appliances. Believe it when you hear it, this grill gets "HOT" and it gets HOT FAST! Turn the burners on high and the temperature gauge quickly goes to the top. While I am still getting used to the infrared, this grill produces the best pork chops, steaks, and believe it or not, hot dogs ever. Even the cheap hot dogs are fantastic.
Its a little extra, but cant imagine having anything else now.
My first infrared grille; seemed the most accessible of that type for the price. I'm still adjusting (after many years with an old-school LPG Coleman), but I really like the infrared searing so far. Cooks much faster, less flame and smoke.
Only bad news is assembly was a nightmare - very frustrating. Parts are packaged such that they can be easily bent during normal shipping and handling (i.e., with no external packing damage visible). I finally had to order a replacement right cart side panel (which was shipped promptly and arrived in a few days, to Kenmore/MyHome's credit), then, replace and...

The grill looks nice in the store but what a mission to put it together. There were 6 parts damaged and 1 part missing that prevented us from assembling the grill completely. I have placed a call to toll free number and am waiting for them to call back.
Set up took only two hours. Good assembly instructions for the most part. Cooks very well. Food was just right. See what happens in the next several months.
I would recommend purchasing this grill based on the short amount of time using this grill.
I've had this grill about a month and am completely satisfied. It cooks evenly and there is virtually no smoke or flare ups. Food comes off the grill tender and juicy. Assembly was straight forward and pretty easy. About 2 hours. In response to the reviwer who had lots of trouble aligning the doors, use the adjusters on the casters to compensate for any uneveness in the floor the grill sits on. A few turns with the included wrench and the whole thing straightened up beautifully with perfect door alignment. It is like leveling a refrigerator or stove. My neighbors were showing off their new custom built island last summer and they had this 16671 grill along with a sink, bar, refrigerator and seating. Very nice set-up and it was great that the grill didn't choke everybody with smoke. It's a clean cooking grill and HOT. I bought one myself and am impressed how fast this grill heats-up. My old grill was a 6 burner with smoker, rotisserie and all the bells but this Crossray infrared set-up sears the best steak, burgers and porkchops I have ever made. This grill is very energy efficient. It is impressive how it heats up' and grills so quickly. Steaks and hamburgers turn out wonderfully. One can really grill a lot at one time on this gtill.
The Cross ray technology makes the LED lights necessary, to determine initially if the grill is on. The instructions leave much to be desired. Please consider taking advantage of Sear's free assembly.
The storage door is prone to falling off when moved. But it is easy to replace (at @200 pounds it really needs a permanent home). See the previous reviewers castor tip.

I bought this grill about 3 months ago and I am very pleased. Grills well, maintains good even temperature and clean up is easy. Side burner is very powerful and easily cooks side dishes while your main dish is grilling.
