Oh and it does not take any moisture out of the air- thanks Kenmore my basement smells (from moisture) and I need a new DH. Don' t buy Kenmore- they are not recommended by consumer advocate...

These machines are work horses that never quit. I run mine 24/7 as I have a leaky basement throughout the year and I have no mold what so ever! Don't get me wrong, if I do have an occasional problem Sears fixes it ASAP under the warranty, 24/7 operation is a lot to ask from any machine. If you want the best of a dehumidifier then Kenmore is the way to go.
I bought this in 2008 and after two years ( two summers to be precise. I'm in Columbus Ohio and only use dehumidifier in the summer) it died. Very disappointing. I had a old dehumidifier ( I think it was a Westinghouse) for about 10 years and it was still working fine when I replaced it with this Kenmore humidifier because we moved to a new house and it got a little noisy and dirty. We thought that it was time to get a new one. What a big mistake. This summer when I turn on the dehumidifier, it would not dehumidiy. Now I'm looking for a new dehumidifier. read full review »I bought 3 of these dehumidifiers and all stopped within 2 years due to bad motors. One of them would have burned my house down if I hadn't been home when it started smoldering. Both the store and the Kenmore people have said too bad because there is only a 1 year warranty. I spent way too much money to have them only last 1.5 years. I'm just wondering if they would have paid for my burned down house if that had happened. I was a faithful Sears customer, but won't be anymore.
I bought a 54701 model three years ago. About two summers after purchase, the cooling system wnet bad. 4 months after repair the cooling system, the control panel went bad.
The product is not reliable.
this little unit works great. small, compact, and doesn't do to much damage to the electric bill.
The Kenmore Dehumidifier I bought was a lifesaver. When I could not get a restoration company to come in and dry my basement from a disaster of 4 inches of water, this dehumidifier did the trick. Once the water was pumped out with my sump pump, this little marvel did the rest. All I had to do was plug it in. It cannot overflow with an automatic shutoff. The bucket is easy to empty with its own carrying handle. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
The Kenmore Dehumidifier is worth every penny. It is the most reliable one on the market. We have had ours for over 5 years and never had a problem with it . We also bought another one with a warranty and after 2 years it was not working up to par so we brought in to have it checked out. The guy at the service department said they could not fix it but we were entitled to a new one which we went to pick up that day . It has not given us a bit of trouble. read full review »We only have it 6 months but it doesn't seem to work properly. It either stays on all the time or hardly ever goes on. I keep changing settings but that doesn't seem to matter. Deciding whether or not to take it back.
