We have the Kenmore Elite Speedcook Microwave and like many posters here, the light has blown in the oven and the handle has broken on the door. What's the deal with the quality? When we remodeled our kitchen we chose all Kenmore Elite appliances. Now the dishwasher is not working, the fridge has frozen up, the cooktop only has 3 working burners and the microwave has all the problems mentioned above. RUN from these appliances!!

We mounted this oven at the optimum height indicated in the manual. Within the first year, the plastic began to crack from the heat/steam rising off the stove underneath it. Within 4 years, the handle broke (why have a honking great handle anyway?). Within 5 years, the convection fan wore out. Within 2 years, the light bulb burned out. Also, it takes a while to learn how to use it, which is no problem for the owner, but people who come over will always ask you how to use the stupid thing. Please, don't buy this expensive, low quality unit.

We have had this oven for 4 years. I will never have a regular microwave again. My family hardly ever uses the convential oven. The only problem we have encountered is the inside light and night light keep burning out and are $30 to replace, so after 4 I refuse keep spending money on them.
If you buy this you will love it.

I have had this unit for three years and it is a life saver. With only two of us in the house it is so easy to throw the cinnamon rolls in the microwave and 9 minutes later we are eating....my oven won't even preheat in that time.
No problems so far but I purchased the extended warranty because the lights used to speed cook tend to burn out.
I have told my husband that when our house sells we are taking the microwave!!

so have only had a few months but I am CRAZY about this oven! I use it many times a day, I have used the convection part often and love it, the speedcook is FANTASTIC, the microwave is GREAT! The popcorn sensor is my husband's favorite aspect-it never burns and does NOT need tobe watched! It is just a WONDERFUL oven all the way around. Only time will tell if it will maintain its "fantastic" status...Too bad the stores don't STOCK these items, people would buy them faster I believe. I know I would have bought one sooner.

I bought the oven a year ago for a brand new home I was building. We just moved in 2 1/2 months ago. The microwave totally died - no power at all, but warranty was only for 1 year - even though house was still under construction. Very expensive to only last 2 1/2 months of use.

I got to use this microwave for only 16 months at the costly amount of $600.00. The main circuit board went out and some other part like switchboard went bad too. It would cost around $500.00 to fix it. The appliance person told me not to buy another microwave with all the bells and whistles again just get the basic microwave. And with no extended warranty I'm left with no microwave because it's not worth fixing. So now it collects dusts in my basement. Never again will I buy such a fancy microwave.

We bought this in August 2005 when we replaced our kitchen appliances-had purchased various Sears appliances since 1972. It quit functioning in May 2007, and the Sears serviceman said the circuit board was gone, and it could cost more to repair than to replace. It was used to cook no more than 10 times, only to reheat foods and to heat plates and serving dishes. The convection feature was used only twice as our dual range has that feature. He also mentioned that placing a microwave over a range is not a good idea due to the grease spatter. (I would like to mention that the previous Hotpoint microwave...

I never thought this Microwave could do all this. I love being able to dial in specific food and have it come out perfect. I also love using the speed cook and convection oven to cook my entire meals without using my stove. I love how well breads, cakes, meats cook in this oven. It also helps to not heat my kitchen up in on the hotter days. That is when I was forced to eat out or grill my meals. It works great on frozen or fresh meats.

I have had this microwave long enough to give a fair and honest review of it and I am VERY diasappointed. Oh it does a great job at cooking (like most will) but the quality and the durability is just pathetic. You would think that a microwave that cost over $700 (with taxes) would hold up longer than a year. The door handle broke and now the plastic front has cracked! So I called Sears and the replacement door cost me almost $250! Now I have almost $950 tied up in a microwave, kind of expensive when you can now buy standard microwaves for as little as $75 these days, or to break it down, I could...

I purchased this microwave because I loved the idea of being able to speed cook and convection in one appliance.
When it is working it works great on the features.
The quality has been a problem as the oven has broken down 5 times. twice fuses have blown and three times the handle has failed.
Hopefully they can fix the quality issue as this oven is good at what it does.

This oven makes holiday cooking easier. Popcorn always comes out perfect with the sensor. Baking a few cookies at a time with my grandchild is great!
