“BUYERS BEWARE !!!”

Kenmore Elite 1.7 cu. ft. Speedcook Oven Hood Combination w/Ultra HeatWave Technology — 

I purchased this microwave 1 1/2 years ago. My husband and I were very pleased until approximately 1 1/2 months ago when the LCD screen started to go. Now, it is completely blank and the microwave is rendered useless. I received a repair quote today........$450 (which includes labor) if the problem is strictly LCD or $750 for both LCD components! I was shocked to say the least! This microwave is only 6 months out of the one year warranty period and the LCD is shot. One would only hope that by purchasing a $760 microwave that it would last for at least 5+ years, and not one year and six months. We, unfortunately did not purchase the extended warranty on this product and are now paying the price. After some research, I have found that the LCD has caused problems for others. I only wish we had been warned of the sensitivity of these microwaves prior to throwing away $760.00.
