I bought one of these on clearance and was dissappointed to find it didn't work.We returned it only to find second one also didn't work, Sears said only option was to refund our money, and since I really wanted it, We took the broken one home. My husband pulled out his electrical meters and found out...

Defective.

This would be a nice food processor if it worked.  However, it has a defect with the motor.  The motor burned out after a couple of uses.  We got a replacement, and the same thing happened.  It was not even under load the second time it broke.  Needless to say, I don't recommend it.

We didn't have...

I had trouble getting the cover to lock from the beginning and should have returned it then, but thought it was a "breaking in" issue. Now it's broken not only in, but every other way as well and I'll have to buy a new cover. As others have reported, the plastic slide button came off and the cover is cracked from where I forced it to lock. Very frustrating.

8 Months old and Kaput!

Buyer Beware! We remember when Sears stuff used to be good.  We just purchased the Kenmore Elite food processor 8 months ago from our local sears.  Plastic parts gave away and shattered on the slide button mechanism onthe Food chute.  Went to parts direct and all the parts are back ordered.  That says to me that we are not the only ones experiencing this problem.

I've been wanting a food processor for a few years, and so I picked this one up. I was very excited. Pulled out the manual, took off all the plastic and cardboard and set it up according to the instructions. I'd like to note that I have purchased many appliances over the years. Some broke after a few months, some after a few years, and some are still working decades later. I have NEVER bought an appliance that was *already* broken when it was brand new out of the box... until this thing. When I turned it on, it made a low humming noise but did nothing that I could see. No spinning blades, nothing....

I was worried because of the number of poor reviews, but based on size and sale price at Christmas time, I took a chance and purchased it along with an extended warranty.  So far, 6 weeks and probably 20 uses later, I have had no regrets.  It works great, was a fantastic value, has a ton of attachments, and does everything we expected and more.  So far I've seen no indication the motor won't last, but if not, I've got the warranty.

I was excited to pick up a 14 cup food processor with a storage box for the blades at a resale shop.  New - got it home and NOPE it didn't work.  Bummed I returned it and bought a brand new one from Sears and Guess what same thing it didn't work.  Plug it in set it up and it only hummed.  No blades would turn!  Took it back - I am sticking with Cuisenart !!  I can not believe this "high end" model wouldn't work and I see there are others here that had the same problem.  Come on quality control people! this is not some cheap $20 food processor and I have to drive at a minium or 30 minutes...

Cannot believe to this day these repair issues have not been corrected by Kenmore.

This 14 cup Kenmore Elite Food processor was purchased as a gift. The presentation/packaging is wonderful with all the blades, holder, etc.

But when they tried to use it, it just hummed. It did not work!

How embarrasing!!!!

Kenmore...take them off the shelves and fix them before others go through the same issues!!!

Totally disappointed...."Elite" was not the name for this product.

I purchased it instead of a kitchen aid because of the extra blades.  I love the blades but the little black button that so many others seem have broken is broke on mine after only 3 or 4 uses.  It is just glued on and it just popped off.  Poor design.  Also is is terrible to clean, especially if you make any sort of dough in it.  I don't think the motor is very strong either.  I expect more problems.  Guess I'll go back to kitchen aid although they could sure improve the blades offered with theirs.  I can't believe that there isn't a recall or at least a free part.

I just tried using our new Kenmore Elite 14 cup food processor and it hums but does not spin. I've been on the phone w/Sears for an hour to see if there might be an at home remedy so I can get on with my dinner.I was told to go to the Sears.com website and that I could find assistance there. I asked for help to navigate the site and then was told they couldn't find help either. I am so disappointed because we were banking on the food processor working for our dinner plans tonight and it didn't pull through. I really thought these products put out by Sears were supposed to be more reliable. Don't...

DO NOT BUY

I exchanged a Christmas gift for this unit last year and have been extremely disappointed. The bowl/lid are very cumbersome and difficult to lock. I also just recently had the slide switch (locks down the top and engages the on/off switch to run the unit) break. I now have a $150 unit that doesn't work because of a $.02 plastic part. Don't be fooled by the generous 5year warranty; I returned the unit to the store and talked to five different service departments and received no satisfaction. This will be my last Sears purchase.

Nice Features - Poor Execution

I purchased the Kenmore Elite food processor because I liked the idea of using the multiple disks for a number of functions. On the very first use, pressure build up from food that slipped between the slicing disk and inside top of the cover caused the tab that locks down the plunger shoot to pop off. The spring underneath the tab flew out and was lost. I had to take apart a ball point pen and use the spring to fix the unit so I could continue using it. The next use was to make pumpkin cheesecake. The unit blended the ingredients together beautifully, but after running the chopping blade through... read full review »

Bought this for my wife for christmas this year. She was so happy until we tried to use it. It only hummed. Would not do anything else. So I really don't know how it would work because it never worked. I am so dissapointed. This is obviously an issue by reading the reviews but Sears continues to sell them. And I thought the Kenmore Elite line was suppose to be so good. I bought her the toaster and the coffemaker also. The Elite line to match everything for her. But not really impressed with any of them. Kinda cheaply made. Food processor is heavy though. Maybe a good use would be as a paper weight....

DOES NOT WORK

I received this model for Christmas.  I tried it out for the first time and the black plasti pice that locks the lid on broke off.  I held the lock down and the machine worked.  The second time I tried to use it the motor was running but the blades would not spin.  I returned the machine and Sears let me exchange it for a new one.  I took the secong machine home and it worked once, but the second time I tried to use it the same thing happened.  The motor was running but the blade did not spin.  Soooo, I returned the secind one to Sears and they let me exchange it again.  Now, I'm on my...

Broken

Got this a year ago at a Christmas sale, and have used it about 5 times during that period. And now its broke. The black part in the handle that locks down to allow the processor to turn on has broken. Just a cheap little plastic part. However, if I stick my finger down into the handle to hold the safety lock down, the machine will still turn on.... my advice is to get a different machine.
