We bought this freezer to replace a Kenmore freezer we've had for over 20 years. Never had a problem until it suddenly died. It lived a full life. Didn't even shop around between brands. Just checked what Sears had online, looked for sales, confirmed our choice in the store, and bought it on the spot. We liked the mix of storage options and features, especially the digital temperature readout and the alarm. We've only had it a couple weeks, so time will tell about durability, but so far so good. A couple minor complaints. The compressor is a bit loud when running. We have it in our laundry...
read full review »This is a great & spacious freezer. I can fit so many things in it that I actually needed to go "stock-up" at the grocery store! Yay! So far it's only half full with my "junk" foods - a bag of ice, 6 1/2 gallons of ice cream (on sale!), six frozen pizzas, about 20 packages of ground beef, 8 packages of boneless chicken, 3 loaves of bread, 1 package hot dog buns, 5 packages stick butter, 8 cans of juice concentrate, 2 ice cube trays (frozen homemade baby food) a pan of lasagna cut into individual portions and food saver-ed, same with a pot of chili, some fish my hubby caught, a package of those...

I highly recommend this freezer. If it is in your budget get the extended warranty. I bought this freezer to replace the Amana...
read full review »We have had the freezer for a two weeks and love it. Currently its noise level is quite, and the door seals work very well. No Complaints yet.
For the price the product should last longer than 4 years and 3 days. The alarm is great because it will warn you that your 1/2 of a beef is going to spoil because the freezer doesn't work anymore. Customer service will not call you back so be prepared to call them twice. They will also make you an appointment a week later which would be okay if it was a dishwasher not a freezer full of meat. I also believe that after lisitening to 10 min of automated people I was transfered to a help center in India.
I was interested in an upright self defrosting freezer that was energy star compliant. I researched thoroughly and found there were few choicest that met all the criteria Because of this I mainly bought on price. I bought the 16 cu ft which was the smallest freezer that is Energy Star. The next smaller size usese as much electricity as this one.
I have had the freezer for four months and found it does the job just right. I have no complaints at all. I like the ice cream compartment as it keeps ice cream at serving temperature while keep everything else rock solid (I keep at 0). I also like the...

Had to talk my husband into an upright, he was stuck on our old chest freezer...he is so glad we purchased this. He loves the convenience of the shelves and we both are pleased with the purchase. The pizza shelf is a little flimsy, but it is only meant to hold lightweight items...I keep hamburger/hotdog rolls there. The ice cream section on the door is a great feature, also.
Thanks for another great Kenmore item!
This is a great freezer. It promises to be low cost. The storage is wonderful. There is space for all kinds of storage. I love the door storage and the basket. The pizza shelf is really nice to have.
I had to go thru 3 freezers before 1 worked correctly. My faith in this product is very poor. I lost over $355 worth of food. The only thing good is Sears is backing their product and helping make manufacturer reimburse me for my loss. Cannot give good review at this time.
Recently delivered and the delivery guys were so nice, respectful and speedy!
The freezer is great and very good quality with large shelves and plenty of room. The pizza tray is such a cool feature, but it is only for pizza boxes, so it shouldn't be used for anything heavy, which is ok with me.
We love the external temperature display and alarm feature! Haven't had it long enough to comment on any repair needs, but so far, so good!
not cheap feeling
I've been a Kenmore customer for many years. I had originally bought a Kenmore freezer (14 cf model 28432) which I was very unhappy with. I exchanged that freezer for this Kenmore Elite (17 cf model 28712). I am very happy with this new freezer. It runs quietly, efficiently and is an Energy Star. The outside is sleek and stylish with rounded corners and a temperature gauge on the door. It has an alarm to notify me if the electricity for the freezer has gone off or if the door was not fully closed. The inside is roomy with lots of moveable shelves on the door, a large basket on the...
