Pretty nice

I like it,the only thing is that it is kinda noise. but since it's in the kitchen, I can't hear it from my bedroom, that's good enough.

The sears workers who set it up, they didn't turn on my water, so the freezer can't make ice. They didn't setup the bottom of thie legs either. My husband and I had...

Most Helpful Critical Review

It is felt that the freezer is not energy efficient because the surface of the door is very cold to the touch when felt in a hot room.  A refrigerator freezer standing next to the Kenmore is much warmer to the touch, even when the inside temperature is the same.  The freezer appears to hold the set...

Kenmore Elite 16.7 cu. ft. Upright Freezer (4473) Reviews

We've had this freezer for a couple months now and one significant design flaw has reared its ugly head: sometimes when you open the freezer door, the door of the soft-freeze zone, which is a long piece of plastic that opens downward and is built into the door of the freezer, gets caught onto the inside edge of the freezer. This results in not being able to open the freezer door beyond about 3 inches, unless you want to break off the soft-freeze zone door.

When the soft-freeze door gets caught, what you have to do is reach into the 3-inch space that is open and use your hand to grab and shut the...

Good freezer

We are pleased with the performance of this freezer [and fridge] so far, but think it should be noted that the energy guide listed in the product page is not for this model, nor is it for any of the model numbers listed, as they do not show up when searched, they must no longer exist. The correct energy usage of this, as shown on the tag in the product, is much more. Barring that, the extra space in the freezer probably saves $, if you buy extra foods on sale, but it's not good environmentally.Unit is generally quiet, icemaker noises a little distracting at first.

Kenmore Elite Stainless Steel Freezer (built in with matching fridge)

I have read several review of this unit with people bleating that it is poor quality. To be honest even though it looks like a $7000 unit when it is built i with the refrigerator unit and the luxury trim it's quality is not up to that standard -WHAT A SURPRISE !!!

However, it's quality is superior to other units at this price - it is not a noisy unit as some would lead you to beleve ( for those who think it is they should read about mechanical resonance and see if they have a problem with their cabinets instead of focussing on...

Received a good product

I purchased the Frig-Freezer combo and have been pleased with them. I have not had the problems with noise that I have seen others have listed. They are not absolutely quiet but certainly not a high level of noise. I am remodeling the kitchen and when they are framed inside the trim kit I would expect the sound to be even lower. The only drawback I have noticed with the freezer is the seal suctions fairly tight. I know this is better than a loose seal but it is tight enough when you try to pull the door open the freezer will slide a little before the seal lets the door open. This is a little frustrating... read full review »

Great Elite Duo, year old now

We just love this set, although we have them sitting apart, the plan is to buy the trim kit and put them together soon. I agree with the noise problem, but it is easily fixed by leveling, this is important. Also, I use a frig thermometer and set them at the mid to lower coldest settings. So much room, good looks and no more running out to the garage to see whats in the freezer. Also, only paid $500 each at the Outlet center, brand new. Great deal, huh? Can't beat Sears!!!!

Freezer roars throughout the home

Beautiful to look at and bearing the Kenmore Elite label, one would expect a quality product. BUT buyer BEWARE this freezer is a DOG. It runs incessantly, I can't even imagine what it is doing to my electric bill, and the noise can be heard throughout my 5,000 sq. ft. home and that's a LOT of NOISE!

No more Kenmore

Bought this freezer 2 years ago... I hate foodshopping and it had the looks of a really expensive set! but as one of the previous reviewers stated .. save the money.. I lost hundreds of dollars worth of food.. The technician said it was "unusual" but the compressor went! Right before 4th of July weekend too!!!lots of takeout and bring your own bbq for the family we love to entertain...We will not be buying anymore Kenmore products.. Our dryer also 2yrs young is also out of commision.. Maybe we are old fashioned but we expect more then a couple of years from our appliances.

Do not buy this product

I read the reviews on this product, some good and some bad--consistent theme is the noise. I bought the frig and freezer--big mistake. I empore you to not buy this product. The noise level is very poor. Additionally, we have a consistent issue (despite three service calls) with the seal(not a good seal when you close the doors) and the caps that go on the top of the units are cheap plastic that took four trips back to sears with no luck. The noise is bad and we have ours sealed in a built-in cabinet base which "should" reduce the noise. I would strongly NOT recommend that you buy this product.... read full review »

Great value and work great!

We have had this freezer, with the trim kit and matching fridge, for over a year now. We designed our remodel around this unit and couldn't be happier with the way its turned out. I've read the other reviews and don't understand where all the noise complaints are coming from. Ours makes less noise than our standard side by side in the garage. It will make a little noise if not level, but once you have it level it's quiet. Roomy and a definate conversation piece in our home. Friends love it and think we paid the big $$ for it when we got it for a bargain.

Condenser/fan much too loud

The freezer works well, but the fan and condenser are too loud to offset the other positive features. I've already had the condenser/fan replaced in one unit, and when that didn't work a complete replacement. It is so loud that I can hear the freezer from the other side of the house on a different floor. I'll try replacing the freezer one more time, and if that doesn't work ask for my money back. It is just too loud to tolerate, especially for $800.

Great looks...extremely noisy

As with other reviews, we love the way this combo looks and the price was certainly right. BUT...you get what you pay for. The unit started off with a slight hum when the freezer compressor kicked in and gradually over 4 months the noise level increased to that of mild conversation and is now extremely irritating! We have both units (fridge and freezer) and it's only the freezer making the noise and on a regular basis now. The hum is always there, but magnified when the compressor kicks in. Called for service today, so we'll see what happens. Beyond that, the positives are; attractive unit (especially... read full review »

Great for a large family

We had problems with fan noise when it was first installed but then my 13 year old son noticed that the delivery men only put the legs on the front of the units. Once we had all four feet level the noise went away. It has been great to be able to store so much for our family. Now it is no problem to have four gallons of milk at one time. We have one drawer in the freezer that holds eight half-gallons of ice cream. A dream for the kids. We have had many friends and family who have been envious of the space and especially the price. Our old side-by-side was $2800 new and these two units were only... read full review »
