We purchased this freezer to replace a 25 yr.old model. It far exceeds our expectations and needs. It quickly reached zero. I love the dividers, indicator/temperature light display, interior light and it runs quietly. We are really pleased with our purchase and with the prompt and courteous service we received at Sears.
...

I love my new freezer. I had an upright freezer for years because of limited space. I am so glad we went back to the chest freezer, there is so much more room. We prefer Kenmore, we have had better luck with it. The freezer is very quiet and seems to run well. We have only had it for a couple of weeks, but I have had Kenmore appliances all of my life. I would reccomend Kenmore to anyone but I would not reccomend the maintanance agreement. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEM....

We live in a remote area in southern Utah, so I knew I wanted a lot of freezer space so we can stock up on items when we go to a large metro area to shop. I didn't actually see this unit in person before I bought, otherwise I may have bought a slightly smaller one, but I think over time, I will be happy with the size we have. We are in a small manufactured home while we are building a larger home and then this unit will go into the garage, but in the meantime, its practically within our living space so I know we'd hear any noise. There is a pet fountain nearby and the sound from the fountain is much louder than this unit.

Very happy so far!...

I looked at many reviews of all makes and sizes of chest freezers. Bottom line is you get what you pay for. We purchased the Elite because it had a couple of very nice features. Two of them are the dividers, and the alarm. The Kenmore name and reputation was also a very strong point for us. We brought it on line, right after Thanksgiving and got $300 off the price. Time will tell if the Kenmore name is still what it used to be. The freezer seems to be well made, and uses very little power....

The Lid Leaks Air and Cannot be Fixed January 28, 2011

I bought this freezer in June of 2009. In just over three months I notice the frost build-up was excessive as compared to the 31 year old Wards that it replaced. Over the next year Sears (A & E) was here 4 times to try to correct the problem. They were unsuccessful. All of the repair people told me that new freezers are build so light that the lid doesn't seal. They are mostly plastic so it is not possible to use a magnetic seal as was in my old Wards. One suggested adding weight to the lid to help it seal! The warranty finally ran out and the lid still leaks. So now I'm stuck with a defective Sears freezer that needs defrosting at three month intervals. Because Frigidaire supposedly makes all freezers produced domestically it won't do any good to switch brands unless it's a foreign make. If you buy this freezer plan on frequent defrosting and less than optimal efficiency. With such a leaky lid the Energy Star rating on this freezer...
...

The price was excellent, so we bought two freezers: one as a gift for our son and his family; the other for us to replace a 35-year old Whirlpool that was still going strong, but we needed more storage capacity. The freezer delivered to our son worked out great from the very beginning; this review concerns only the two freezers that were delivered to our home.

Even though the first freezer delivered to us had to be leveled with shims, the lid still would not seal - it gaped all the way down one side and more than than halfway across the front. Frost quickly built up inside on the top front panel and along the top baskets because the lid would not seal properly. Happily, the second (replacement) freezer - delivered a week later and sitting in the exact same place as the first - was not only level with the floor without the use of shims, the lid sealed immediately. Given the experience with the second freezer, it seems obvious to us that the first freezer was somehow twisted, presumably...
...

Purchased on sale at store - great value, good sales person. Arranged for delivery which arrived as expected at the front end of the window of time given.

I live in a semi-rural area. The delivery people parked the truck on the roadway - they did not drive up my dirt driveway. Instead, they lowered the unwrapped, unboxed freezer onto a hand truck then walked it up the uneven dirt driveway. Not the most efficient way to off-load a freezer of this size. The driveway was wide enough to accommodate a truck twice the size and they could have easily backed up to a concrete section just outside the garage which was where the freezer was to be placed. I was not happy with their delivery method.

I noticed the lid at the front right corner does not seem to seal quite as efficiently as the rest but I have not noticed any cold air leaking. I have yet to call Sears to have someone out to check. Yes, the freezer is level so there should be no issue.

I like the size and so far it seems to be......

We have only owned the freezer about 2 weeks, but so far it seems to be a good freezer. After plugging it in we immediately began filling it up with a beef that we had butchered. The freezer was down to freezing shortly after we finished filling it up. I like the fact that it tells you what the temp. is and the alarm will sound if the unit goes out. My favorite features are the dividers that make it easy to separate out the meat cuts and the 3 heavy duty baskets.
...

Replaced an old energy hog. Measurement confirms that this unit uses the electricity claimed for it, and maintains at lt least the temperature setting. It's very quiet. Has a temperature display. No problem with the door seal. However, some warnings. The temperature display is programmed to display the target temperature whenever the freezer is in range of that temperature, so you can't see how it varies as the freezer cycles. The range seems to be about plus/minus 4 degrees but it's hard to measure. Delievery is NOT installation. The delivery people removed the old unit and put the new one in place. But they did not shim the legs to get is square. If you have an uneven floor and don't properly shim it, there is no way the lid can seal all around! Finally, the 9V battery installation is a bit hard to find from reading the manual, and you need to put one in to turn off the no battery warning.
...

When I walked into Sears to purchase a chest freezer, I had done my research and, to be honest, I chose Sears only because Kenmore was a brand that I haven't heard terrible things about. When I walked into the store, the saleswoman was very helpful, friendly, and tactful with sales. She didn't try to push me into a service plan or into purchasing a more expensive product.

Initially, I purchased the Kenmore 15 cu. ft. chest freezer. It was the same size as our previous freezer; however, Kenmore has included dividers to better organize the pile of frozen goods that usually get buried in a chest freezer. After seeing that our food filled the freezer, we decided to go for the Kenmore Elite 19.7 cu. ft. freezer. The exchange process was incredibly easy and all of the people I dealt with at Sears and on the phone were pleasant and professional. In addition, I didn't have to pay for delivery of the second freezer, nor did I have to pay a restocking fee.

The temperature alarm and digital temperature...
...

I have had this chest freezer for a little over a month and I love it.

I work from home and sit at my computer about 12 feet from this unit. It is virtually silent. The compressor kicks in maybe once every two hours....then again, it's hard to hear so who can tell?

When researching my ideal unit, I was apprehensive about the organizational abilities of this type of freezer. Most specifications fail to note any storage options and sometimes you are forced to study thumbnail pictures to figure out what comes with a particular unit. This unit comes with plastic dividers that you can use to make six equal sized areas on the floor of the freezer. The dividers are about an inch thick and are about 18 inches tall. They interlock with one another to form a robust system for food separation. There is a molded shelf on the left side of the unit which is about 10 inches wide and finally, there are three sliding baskets which reside on a lip inside the freezer. The baskets are...
...
