Turntable badly designed, fussy controls.

Kenmore Elite 2.0 cu. ft. Microhood Combination with Even Glide Plus Turntable —

It does heat well & evenly. It looks nice. As other reviewers have noted the turntable is a problem. Ours jumped off the track often when we first installed it. This makes a loud sound when the glass tray clangs back down, can be quite startling. For some unknown reason it seems to have gotten better over time. Luckily we got the extended warranty, so we're keeping an eye on it. Also I dislike the fact that the microwave doesn't have a number keypad. I was wary of this when we were shopping, but the salesman assured me that people love the dial. I don't. If you want a specific time, say 8 minutes, you either have to use the dial or push the 30 second button 16 times. Using the dial to get a specific time is fussy. It's impossible to enter a time without going past it & having to turn it back & forth. For this reason alone I am sorry we bought this model. This microwave has several settings that can be customized, such as the screen's backlight setting, auto night light setting, plus the date & time need to be entered. (Why does a microwave need to know the date??) We have frequent short power outages here in South Florida. Often it only flickers off for a few seconds. Every time this happens the microwave loses all these settings & must be reset. During storm season here this frequent resetting gets annoying. This could've been avoided with a small battery to keep the time, date, & other settings. We've replaced all our appliances with Kenmore Elite over the last year or so & this is the only one I'm disappointed with.

I have this same microwave and agree that the dial is inconvenient and hard to get specific times right. I would prefer to push the 30 sec. button 16 times than go through the dial to get 8 minutes. Either way, it's a pain.
The turntable jumps out of the track every time we use it and makes a loud noise like something broke. I always have to set he tray back into the wheel guides after each use. We've tried looking at the "fixes" but we can't figure out what is wrong...
The microwave heats well and rotates back and forth as well as spins for a nice, even heating. But the inconvenient dial and unstable turntable are major drawbacks.
