I did research on several microwaves since our old Sharp (microhood) died on us. This one came back with more options than most. We really wanted to be sure it had Sensor Heating! It does heat well & evenly. It looks nice. As other reviewers have noted the turntable is a problem. Ours jumped off the track often when we first installed it. This makes a loud sound when the glass tray clangs back down, can be quite startling. For some unknown reason it seems to have gotten better... read full review »

Nice features, but buggy turntable

I bought this as the matching microhood for our Kenmore range (#80833) two years ago. This microhood is a great performer, with easy to use manual and autocook options. The vent could be better, and QUIETER. The kitchen timer option and auto nightlight are nice features. Has a very nice popcorn setting, too. The dial/toggle instead of a number pad took a little getting used to. All the autocook categories (and there are many, with subcategories) have preperation advice/instructions that work really well. I bought this microwave because Consumer Reports gave it the best review. I should have done my homework better because I was disappointed to notice (after it was all installed) that it only heats by 10 second increments. As a mother with very young children, this is not convenient at all when trying to heat up food or bottles. As you may know, some things require just the right heating time down to the second. I would not recommend this if you are someone who needs to heat different things to the second, because that's not an option with this microwave! I have had this microwave installed for 10 months. The first month it worked great. And it still does except for --- The Even Glide Tray!!!! Yesterday I couldn't even heat a cup of tea without having to reseat the tray 3 times!! We bought this microwave specifically because the salesperson "sold" us on the "new" Even Glide technology -- I could have saved the money! I didn't buy the extended warranty, so I guess I'm stuck with it. I do believe it is a design issue as the other review said. I bought this microhood before reading all of the reviews. After reading the reviews I was really concerned and considered returning it b/c of the issues with the turntable. I even contacted Sears about my concerns. The customer service person assured me that my model wasn't affected by the turntable issue and if I had an issue they would correct it right away even though I didn't purchase the extended warranty. I have to say we have had this microhood for almost 2 months and have had no issues at all. I love how it looks, all of its features and how well is heats and cooks.

turntable problem cannot be fixed

less than a year old and the item has an unrepairable turntable issue. It was the top of the line at the time it was purchased, the turntable came off the mark a number of times but I was told not to worry it was just getting broken in. Now it is constant and I'm having trouble getting the parts they say will fix it because they are no longer available from the maker. I did not purchase the extended warranty believing such an expensive item from a reputable company would not need it. The bottom line is I suggest you do not purchase this item

Great features, very poor design on tray

This microwave is great, except that the "ez glide tray" thing does not work, keeps jumping off track, had Sears out a few times to fix it and even with the new parts it does not work. Repair guy even told me that its a design flaw with this model and it just deosn't work correctly. Kinda surprised they are still selling them with this feature and haven't recalled them all. Repalced with different microwave.

had this about 5 months now. Finally called sears for repair.The dish comes off the track. The tech informed me they now have a repair kit. I llike the dial setting for everything. Reheats everything very evenly. Looks great too

Looks Great, Disappointing Panel

Since using this new Kenmore Elite I'm very disappointed in the panel.  My last oven had a much more friendly program for quick heating items with an 30 second add on.  Also, it had l,2,3, up to six instand buttons for quick cooking.  Just hit the number and it would start the machine and cook for that length of time.  This machine isn't user friendly at all.  I haven't had an issue with the tray like most others have written about, guess I'm fortunate on that issue.  I wouldn't purchase this again.  As for the cooking, heat things mostly, good for popcorn but again its special button doesn't...

Roomy and Easy to Use!!

After studying about microwaves, this one was tops on reheating and defrosting which is what we do most. My husband wanted a microwave that his big instulated coffee mug would fit in....this one fit the bill!! I love the stainless steel interior. It cleans up easily and I know that there will not be any rust damage inside because of it being stainless steel! The sliding turntable inside does a wonderful job of heating the food completely. This microwave has some great features and I love using the dial control. I love the melt and soften feature for butter, cream cheese and chocolate. Never again will you burn chocolate or have to use a double boiler on the stove top. The defrost and reheat features are some of the best that I have run across. They aren't perfect but pretty close. I kind of miss the minute plus feature of most microwaves but I can achieve the same goal with two hits of the 30 second botton..just a little extra work. This combination microwave/exhaust hood matches my range and does everything I want it to. It is programmable for our favorite microwave foods and the multi-stage cooking option is great. The exhaust is fully adjustable, although noisy at high speed. The light is well-positioned to see the cooktop. The easy-glide carosel is a marvelous way to assure foods are thoroughly cooked or reheated.

I bought this microwave about a year about a half ago and I love it. It cooks great and evenly. I like how it senses when the food is cooked. Most of the time it works well. Some cons are: I wish it had more food options to select to cook. The turntable does come off the track sometimes. It is hard to clean on the inside. It would be the best microwave if they would fix the turntable.
