Bought this as a replacement for another Kenmore that was going out. Chose this one for the size, frost-free feature, and glass (rather than wire) shelves. Lots of pros, a few cons, but fits my needs better than any others I checked out. No regrets at this point; have had it for 2 weeks.

-- Delivery was extremely fast as well as on the day promised when I ordered online; also within the 2-hour window I was given the night before delivery.

-- Design of slide-out wire baskets shows improvement. Not as likely to fall off the runners when full like my previous ones. Bottom basket is supported by "feet" rather than all the weight being on plastic rails.

-- Interior "vents"..... the online picture shows one large vent near the top of freezer. Pleasant surprise -- there are also two more smaller vents spaced farther down. What's good about these vents are that the "slats" are angled down, so if a box gets pushed against them the vents won't be blocked. However, I would be careful...
...

I'm sorry I bought this model. I wish I would have purchased one with plain shelves rather than racks, dividers and drawers. I do not find the bells and whistles very useful.

I should have looked online before visiting the store. I wasn't in a hurry and could have waited for one to be delivered.

The pizza box shelf is a joke, we don't eat frozen pizza and it bowed under the weight of some boxes of frozen vegetables. We don't eat much frozen boxed food, I bought this for meat. I cannot get mine loaded as full as the pictures show but maybe because whole chickens and turkeys do not stack like frozen dinners do....

I see a lot of empty space when I open the door. I actually have turkeys stacked two high to try to use some of the wasted space. Mine does not have two sets of drawers in the middle. Big ones on the bottom with a shelf on top then two feet of blank space then a drawer with the pizza box shelf on top.

Unlike some reviewers ours is really quiet. It is hard to tell it is running except...
...

I choose this model because it has the energy star and because I wanted more shelves. Most freezers have 3 shelves. This one has 4 plus 3 slide out baskets. So much easier to see & find what you have. Its not super quiet, but its not in the kitchen so who cares. The door shelves are adjustable. Over all, I am very pleased with the freezer
...

The freezer was unloaded from their truck and up and running in no time. I do not have their names but I hope there is a record of who did deliver the freezer. They we very pleasant and thorough in setting up the freezer. Hats off to those two guys!!!!
...

I love this freezer. There is a lot of room in it and it is easy to organize food on the different shelves. Unfortunately, I found the door cracked open yesterday and the stuff on the very edge started to defrost. I never heard the alarm. We keep the freezer in the laundry room so we don't walk by it on a regular basis. Overall, I would buy this freezer again....

Purchased the 28092 in Dec. 2010. It worked well for the first 10 months we've had it. I just made a call for a repair of the electronic control board. For no apparent reason, the controller has shorted out (diagnosed through troubleshooting with various sources).

Now, having to move all the no-longer frozen food out and salvage what is possible. Can you imagine the inconvenience this becomes, just because the appliance is faulty?

I'll update this post once the repair is completed (under warranty).
...

My husband and I purchased this freezer as a second freezer. We love that it is easy to find what we are looking for without having to dig through everything. Our daughter is able to open it herself and find what she wants without our help (something she really likes to do). I bake and decorate cakes and use the icecream compartment to store my homemade marshmallow fondant and icing and they come out great when I need them again.

We have this freezer in our laundry room right on the other side of a non-insulated wall from which our TV is placed and even while it is cycling (the only time we can here it running) we do not need to adjust the volume. In fact, when we first got the freezer, we had to constantly check to see if it was running because it was so quiet.

If our older freezer were to ever give out on us, we would not hesitate to get a second Kenmore upright freezer, and we would not be heartbroken.
...

There are many ways to arrange frozen items in the freezer. That accomodates a variety of sizes and shapes of packages from home frozen items in bags to pizza boxes to butcher wrapped meat. This makes it easy to take advantage of the roomy interior.

The only drawback is that it is noisy when it cycles. It is not a loud noise but is able to be heard from the basement. You can hear the motor running and it is just more than a quiet hum. Often freezers are not on the main home level so should not be a huge problem....

We like this freezer. So far, it's working well. It looks great and the door control panel is attactive and modern looking. It froze a large amount of food (mostly meat) quickly, with in 4 hours. It has lots of room and is brightly lit inside. I like the quick freeze option and vacuum door seal.

Here are in the negatives. It is noisier than I expected. My Kenmore refrigerator is much quieter. The noise sounds like a panel or fan might be loose. The temperature display on the front only seems to display the freezer setting, not the actual temperature. I put a thermometer in the freezer and with the freezer set to -7 F the temperature fluctuates between -15 F and 1 F during cycles. The outside temperature display continued to read -7 F the whole time. The display did read the actual temperature when I first turned it on (68 F), lowered and then hasn't changed since. Cosmetically, the small screws that hold the door handle on, are visible and ugly.

Maybe but checking the internet seems like I'm not the only one with the problem. Tech states that it's not supposed to be out in the garage. When I purchased the unit I told the saleman that was exactly where I would be putting it and he said nothing about that being a bad spot. Most people put the unit there. Just remember you buy the unit for it's longivity and trust. This is not the unit. Product lost!
...

Excellent purchase. I have a large family and originally had two chest freezers doing the job of this one freezer. I love the ability to adjust the shelves. The slide out wire drawers make accessing items so much easier than having to unload the chest to find what you are after. The alarm on the door is an absolute money saver within itself. One of my kiddos had left it ajar a couple of times---the alarm sounds and lets you know that the door is open and your food could be in jeopardy if not shut soon. I am able to shop sales and expediently freeze what I have acquired. Worth every penny!!!!...

I decided to buy an upright freezer cause I knew that I would end up with things at the bottom of a chest freezer and never get to them. I also wanted to get a frostfree freezer. As far as noise it's in our garage but I don't think it's that bad but my husband thinks it is noisy so I guess it's all relevant!!! Haven't had it very long but we brought it home and set it up seems to be working fine. We made sure that it was level because I had read that if it's not level it might be noisy. Haven't had time to store much in it yet but everything seems to freeze well and I do like the shelves and adjustable door storage. So far-it's not that full so I can easily see what is in the freezer. We just had a big function and I was able to save myself time by freezing food ahead of time.

The door is a little hard to open but I figure that's good so it's got a tight seal!!! But you can't go and try to open the door with full hands cause it takes a little muscle to open the door.
...

Our 11 year old similar model has been great except for two things:

1) The so called high temp alarm failed to alert us in 2006 that the door wasn't completely closed, and Sears refused to reimburse us for the full load of food we lost as a result. They said the alarm wouldn't go off as long as the unit kept running, which it did; just not enough to keep things frozen with an ajar door - imagine that! The high temp alarm is only useful for power outages apparently. Many of today's models I see have door ajar alarms, so they wised up. A tech came out and the only solution for ours was to raise the freezer's front so the door would always close on its own by gravity; but that makes it a bit heavier to open.
