I read the reviews before I purchased this freezer so I knew it would be somewhat loud. It is VERY loud compared to my old Amana freezer which never made much of a sound at all. After delivery and plug in , freezer started lowering tempature rapidly. But , eighteen hours later it stopped at our 8 degree setting . This is one great freezer.

We love this freezer. The noise level is average and hardly noticable. The features and the space are great and I couldn't find anything close for the $670. It looks great and we like the temperature display on the front to reassure you that all is well. We would recommend this freezer to any family that wants to buy bulk and store it all in one place. A great money saver in power, too. You can't go wrong unless you have a library quiet household and then you might notice the compressor cycling. The Elite Freezer had everything we were looking for, however the reviews about noise caused us concern. No need to worry, it is as quiet as other freezers we have owned. Really you do not even notice when it turns on.

My husband and I haven't bought a freezer before, but we are pleased with this one! We originally thought we'd keep it in the dining room, but that didn't work out for long because of the noise. We found room in our garage and there our freezer has a happy home! It cooled to 0 degrees in a couple of hours. One thing that we liked about this one when we were shopping were the drawers. It has better slides than other models we looked at, and sturdy shelves.

My wife and I selected this freezer because of the size and cost versus other models. The freezer hasn't given any trouble as far as maintaining proper freezing temperatures. The only issue we have had is the button that controls the inside light tends to stick, so the light doesn't come on when the door is opened. If I want the light to work, I have to bend down (it is at the bottom) and pull out on the button. I don't know what everyone is talking about. I own the older version without lcd temp screen. I almost didn't buy this because ALL the others said how loud it is. I have an open floor plan so quiet appliances are a must. It's a commercial freezer, people. Yes, it is a tiny bit louder than my side by side was, but the freezer is twice a large! I watch TV, talk on the phone, have parties where everyone always ends up in the kitchen and I have no problem with this. If this will fit in your kitchen, buy it.

This freezer works great and is not too loud. Buy it and you will not be dissapointed. I ordered online on Friday morning and had it delivered at noon the next day. Sears cannot be beat on service.

I would like to say that this freezer is great. It looks Sharp and is very quiet. It has lots of shelf configurations and does a good job at keeping things cool. THe set up was easy and took about 5 min. This is a great solution to overloading that kitchen freezer.

I purchased this freezer after our old freezer died. It's a great size with awesome options such as slide out drawers, tilt out door holders, etc. I can truly go to CostCo now and freeze to my heart's content. : ) Also, I've now made my kitchen freezer my "soft freeze" for items such as ice cream, breads, cheeses, etc. that don't need to be hard frozen. This is a very quiet and easy to clean freezer and I've already recommended it to others.

We purchased this freezer last week and are very happy with it. I read the reviews before we bought it and saw all the comments about how loud it is. Compared to the only other freezer we've owned, a Frigidaire that we bought from Sears 7 years ago, it is a loud freezer. Our Frigidaire was quiet, although it wasn't a frost free, so that may have been part of the reason?? Anyhow, I think the freezer is a fantastic buy if you're putting in in the garage like we did - since noise doesn't matter out there. It would be fine in a basement too, assuming you don't spend all your time down there watching... review »

Was looking to buy freezer to compliment my other stainless steel appliances.Looked at Electrolux 20.6 but would have to pay over 1,200.00.Looked at Frigadaire but could only find it in white with the digital display.Researched this freezer and found out it was made by Electrolux which also owns Frigadaire.Bought this on Black Friday at 25% off.Lots of room with plenty of bins.Like adjustable temp LCD display.Freezes quick mode.Very attractive design.Door alarm and lockable doors.Noise level not any louder than other freezers I looked at.Well pleased with purchase.

Have owned for 3 weeks. everything seems nice accept for the noise level. we upgaded from a 196? chest freezer. hopefully this uses less electric however it is a whole lot louder for being in the garage, the hum sure penetrates the walls of our house.

We purchased this Kenmore Elite Upright Freezer a couple months ago thinking that it was Kenmore's Top of the Line Freezer. How wrong we were. The freezer is extremely noisy when it runs, and it runs frequently. We called and were told that yes the new freezers are indeed noisier. Service said they would note that we called in our file, but they felt there was no need to check out the noise. Live and learn, this will probably be our last Kenmore appliance.
