After recovering from the idea that I would have to stick with an electric cooktop, (bringing in a gas line was too costly, and right now my kitchen is in an arrangement that I plan to change soon, so I'd have to run the gas twice) I decided to go with induction. I did a lot of research on the technology,...

Not happy

I purchcased our induction cooktop appx. 16 mos. ago. Initally I was very satisfied with it. I have a large garden and do a lot of cooking, canning, etc. However, about 30 days ago the cooktop died. Not just one burner but all five went out. I called Sears. It was going to be about a week before a serviceman... read full review »

Love It

We love it - we have our elderly fathers living with us and they used to reach over and we always thought they would burn themselves on the top - but with this one the cool down time is amazing - our teenage son uses this as a trick to all of his friends he does the heat test with the pan and without - they freak at first but when they feel it - I have had more parents ask how they can get one for their home.  Now I do send them to the Sears at the mall - because our local small store in this town - they are not knowledgable or friendly - they have no product knowledge - customer service 0

Great cooktop

I love this cooktop. It boils water amazingly fast. When you turn the burner down the water stops boiling in about 3 seconds. Consumer Reports indicated some problems with the electronic controls. I've had none. I recommend it highly. You can amaze your friends by putting a paper towel between the frying pan and the burner and showing them how it doesn't even get singed.

5 stars

We bought this cooktop as part of a total kitchen remodel. Initially I had planned on a gas cooktop, but all the positive reviews of induction convinced me. I love this cooktop! It's fast, easy to keep clean, and looks beautiful in my soft contemporary kitchen. Plus with the minimal installation clearance needed, I have a divided utensil drawer under the cooktop, plus two deep drawers below for pots and pans. The only (minor) negative is that the stainless steel edge at top and bottom scratches very easily.

My favorite kitchen appliance!!

When I renovated my kitchen 6 months ago, I really waffled between choosing induction or gas. Everyone has gas, and induction is really a rare thing here in the US. I finally choose this cooktop, and could not be happier. I choose this cooktop over other induction models, mostly for price and the fact I could put 3 drawers underneath (utensil drawer & 2 drawers for pots & pans), which is a set-up I really love. The clearance requirements under the GE is something like 17 inches!! The response of the hobs is unbelievable. Water boils before you can turn around. But, on the other hand, if your oatmeal... read full review »

4 stars

I really like this stove but there are a few quirks to it. The most disconcerting was having all the controls go crazy when a pot boiled over - there were flashing lights everywhere. (Apparently it confuses the heck out of the stove having water sitting on it.) Once the water was cleaned up everything went back to normal. The other thing that takes getting used to is the controls. I'm not sure of the technology being used but it seems like the buttons have to be push just so or you have to press for a second or two for the stove to react. But that aside, everything people say about the speed and... read full review »

Great stove top...WOW does it cook!

We purchased this stove top in April and had a kitchen addition done. Finally in September we get to use it!! We simply love this induction cook top. It does cook very fast. It seems like you just put water on for spagetti and all of a sudden while you are taking the veggies out of the fridge to make the salad you have to stop to put the spagetti in the pot....literally minutes. Same with all cooking. Basically anything over a 6.5 is going to be too much heat so it takes a couple times to get used to the temperatures but it is a very easy learn. It is sleek and easy to clean. We found also that... read full review »

best cooktop ever

We were remodeling our kitchen and I wanted a wow factor...this is it.....I can't wait to show friends and family....meals are prepared so quickly....the five burners are roomy and can accommodate big pots...noise is minuscule and not a bother... I have used cook tops along time and definitely makes Grandma cool....

Love to Cook Now

Heard about it. Wanted it. Finally have one in my kitchen. Only reason it took me several years, from the want to the have, is because the cook top I had wasn't broken. This is the most fantastic cooking device ever. It's fast in boiling water. No more endless waiting. Have that pasta ready, because that water will be at a rolling boil in about 4 min. Honest.. What a time saver. Very even and fast in browning any kind of meat. Steamed vegetables in half the time, due to the rapid boil. Some of you commented on the touchy controls. NOT A PROBLEM. I've found that if water or grease get between... read full review »

My dream stove

The first time I saw this cooktop in Sears, I wanted it. I bought it March 5, 1989. As you can see, I have used it for 18 years. It has never had any repairs, still looks and works perfect. I think this is the best cook top for seniors. There is no way to start a fire with grease splatter, a pot holder or cloth. I have used the same pots and pans all these years and they still look new. There is never any extra time spent on cleaning the stove. One wipe and it's always clean. If it ever has to be replaced, it will be another induction.

Excellent Cooktop

I have been very happy with my cooktop. As a serious at-home cook who will try to prepare nearly any type of food, I'm pleased with how much time I am saving in the kitchen. I love the responsiveness of the controls and the very wide variety of heat temperatures. I've had the cooktep since January 07 and finished the kitchen remodel in about April so at this point I have about 6 months experience using it. It's been a learning experience to reorganize how I do things in the kitchen--no more waiting for pots to heat so I've had to re-order how I prep things. After having such responsiveness I realize... read full review »

Incredible, capable, exceeds my expectations

We installed this cooktop in the last few months and the performance has exceeded my expectations significantly. I've dawdled alone with a (high-end) electric range for many years, tho I always suspected I was missing "something" as a cook. Whammo, the induction cooktop arrived and I discovered not just responsive but startlingly-responsive, and not just fast but instant adjustments. Pans heat so quickly that I am having to relearn my "watched pot" behavior -- and the culinary concept of recovery time (which I understand as the time between food hitting the pan surface and the time actual cooking... read full review »

Kenmore Induction Cooktop is the way to go

During our kitchen renovation a friend mentioned to us about induction cooktops. It appealed to me because it gives you the flexibility and control of cooking with a gas cooktop w/o having to worry about getting a gas line in your home. I'll list the positives and negatives for this model: Positives food cooks super fast- you need to adjust your cooking style, I've had many a pot spill over thinking it would take longer to boil and it doesn't great control- to take something from a rapid boil down to a simmer and back up to a boil in a matter of seconds is amazing and fantastic "P" setting-... read full review »
