Great Performer

I have been using this cooktop since March 2006. I am very pleased with it's appearence and operation. Somehow I have been the primary cook since the installation. My wife says after 20 years of cooking, now it's my turn. :-) I also have a melted knob, and it happened in the first few months of use.... read full review »

Most Helpful Critical Review

We purchased this 36" Elite Kenmore Cooktop. It works well and is easy to clean; HOWEVER, the knobs keep melting. We do not touch them with the pot or frying pan. I have replace 5 times. I've called Sears and emailed them. No help. Is there a metal knob available. I am frustrated with this and...

I wish I didn't buy this

I listened to my husband when he said let's get this one when I wanted a glass top and I wish I didn't buy it. The actual burners work great (can't simmer without boiling over but that could be my propane output needs adjustment) but that's about it. The problems I have is the Stainless steel scratches so easy even when you clean it gently. (I vacuum off crumbs with a soft brush before cleaning) One of my knobs melted. Half of the decals for the temps have come off even with gentle cleaning. I am trying to get the rest off (honestly, I know where the temps are and it looks better without...

My Kenmore Elite 36 in. Gas Cooktop performs well, but the upkeep is horrible.  Stains and scratches are hard to remove.  The heat got so hot that part of the "turn on knob" melted.

Overall, I am happy with the performance of this unit, but not with the way it looks after cooking and then cleaning.

Good value

We are very pleased with this model (black) as it performs very well and is easy to clean. One of our knobs melted as well, so the cooktop is not perfect. Does anyone have a suggestion on a quality replacement knob?

Not easy to clean

I purchased an entire new kitchen full of appliances in SS in Kenmorre Elite. Much to my dismay this cooktop is so difficult to keep clean and scrathes so easily it's only been installed since 8/07 and I don't like cooking on it because I can't keep it looking new. I am relentless about my house looking great, so if you are as well, don't buy this it wont' stay looking new..

Great Cooktop

We've had this cooktop in our home for approximately 8 months and, by far, it has been a solid choice. I look both power burners and the simmer burner is an excellent feature. The included cast iron griddle/grill has been an awesome feature--I don't know how I cooked without it. The only issue I have is that the stainless scratches a little easier than I had expected. We had a Kenmore Elite stainless freestanding stove, and I don't remember the stainless being as "fragile" as this one is. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with our purchase and wouldn't want a different product.

Very, very nice cooktop!

We bought this cooktop a few years ago and it has withstood daily, repeated use very nicely. Some pluses: Love the power and simmer burners. Love the stainless look. Nice layout of 5 burners. Cleans up well. Nice performance: good, constant heat, easy fire, consistent performance. It was easy to get the acrylic face replaced when it was cracked by a contractor installing our range hood. A few things I wish were different: The stainless scratches easier than expected. The protective "feet" on the grates come off easily. A bit of a challenge to clean acrylic center due to the position of the knobs.... read full review »

Quality Product!

We especially like the "instant on" electronic ignition of the burners. They light almost instantaneously. Plenty of space to cook, well proportioned and quality built. The rubber feet under the cast iron griddles prevent scratches to the porcelan. Very pleased so far!

ArtworkNeighbor

I purchased this cooktop in Nov. 2007 and had it installed in December. After only one month of very light use by my husband and I, one of the knobs melted. We did nothing to cause this. My frustration is with the service that I received from Sears while trying to obtain a replacement knob. I called Sears on Feb.5 th and went through several computer generated prompts for over 15 minutes. Then I was on hold. Then I finally got a person and what I told him I wanted he hung up on me. They say that they record this phone conversations for quality control so I hope someone will find this call and deal... read full review »

Great Stovetop

We've been using our stovetop for about a month now. We looked at many other brands and settled on Kenmore we trusted them. It has paid off as this has been an excellent stove top.

This is a serious get it done cooktop

When boiling water in the 30 quart for sunday pasta there is plenty of burner space and BTU'S to cook the 15 quart pot of sauce ( which of course cooks for a minimum of four hours). You still have burners to scold the garlic and fry the sausage....FORGETABOUTIT-phenomal I'm tellen ya
