Kenmore Elite Elite 24" Built-In Dishwasher with Ultra Wash HE Filtration (1312) —
I spent a lot of time researching for a dishwasher that would be quiet, energy & water efficient, clean well, and rated well by ****************. I initially was going to buy a Bosch, but ended up buying the Kenmore Elite 1312. Bosch recently put out new models and Sears did not have any on the floor (though on website) for me to check out and there was a lengthy wait time for Bosch DW delivery. I did read the reviews on Sears.com about the Kenmore and they were very mixed (unlike reviews on Bosch). Since the Kenmore was rated highly on Consumers Report, I thought I would be fine with it...and it was also on sale.
I've had the machine for about 6 weeks and had to call for a technician due the following: 1) water did not drain from tub at end of cycle, 2) loud motor noise, 3) coffee and tea residue left in cups. #1 was easily fixed and not the fault of the machine. However, the motor noise was deemed "normal" and the technician told me that there is no dishwasher that will wash coffee and tea residue/stains.
I purchased this machine thinking that it would be quiet and clean well. I can hear the motor (grinding noise) intermittently and water sloshing around, which compete with the TV . Though the machine washes most of the dishes quite well, I was disappointed that coffee and tea residue did not even wash off at all- as if the water didn't even reach the cups. I actually rinse those cups before putting them in the DW. Money spent on this machine was not worth it.
Now I regret not taking the mixed reviews on the Kenmore with more consideration and not following with my initial choice of purchasing a Bosch. I have to be okay with the machine or return it with a restocking fee and go through another purchasing process.
I would marginally recommend this machine to those with kitchens that are confined, not open floor plan. And to people who are okay with handwashing cups used for coffee and tea. The DW is nice looking.
