When it comes to washing machines multi-functionality is key. Some items can withstand high heat whereas others need to be washed delicately in order to maintain shape. With the Kenmore Elite HE5t you can wash all items with confidence because of the wide range of settings the machine offers. Wash anything from heavy quilts using the “bulky” setting to delicate undergarments with the “hand wash” setting.

In addition to the range of features, reviewers love this machine for its durability. The Kenmore Elite HE5t is able to handle large loads, however the wash cycle time is extended with a large load. This washer is also easy on your wallet as well as the environment. The HE5t uses less water than similar products. “Not only has our electric and water bills dropped overall by about 15%, but the clothes are cleaner and don’t seem to stretch or fade as quickly,” says one reviewer. I've been a kenmore/sears product purchaser for years.  When my extra large capacity top loader decided to die after 15 years of daily service I decided to go with a front loader after hearing rave reviews from various friends and family.  So far it's been wonderful!   I did not purchase the matching...

Most Helpful Critical Review

We bought the set in August 09.  The 1st washer was replaced within a month, the computer was shot.  The second washer gives me problems frequently, so much that I handle it with kid gloves.  I am constantly getting an error code, & I've been through it enough with Sears that I know you unplug the...

I've had my he5t for years now and am completely satisfied.  So many options, i just don't use them all, but nice to know they're all there.  Express cycle is quick for small easy loads and takes 30 minutes.  The Whitest Whites does take a long time at over a whoppping 1:30, but it's worth it.  Super white whites.  No problems so far and am an avid user.

Keep shopping!

We loved this washer for 4 years....then the error codes began.  Apparently the vibration during the spin cycle shakes the mechanics of the control board which eventually causes all sorts of crazy errors.  We expected many more years of use before problems began.  Sears customer service leaves much to be desired.  Currently shopping for a new washer - definitely not Kenmore and definitely not from Sears!

Sears products are the worst ones I have ever seen.  They are also the worst customer service that I ever had to deal with.  This washer doesn't perform any of its given qualities.  I brought this washer for less than 2 months now and already had 5 complaints on them... the front open washers will started to leak water out of it.  NEVER BUY THEIR PRODUCTS AGAIN.

Reluctant Buyer

We purchased this washer & dryer model in the fall of 2007. After reading online reviews and speaking with others who had front loading machines, I was hesitant to make the transition from traditional to front loading. When our old washer was finally beyond repair, my husband forced me to make a decision. I am so glad that we made this purchase. I can't really say that the washing/drying time seems any less, but the units definitely hold more laundry. I am using less detergent and less water. I buy the 100 oz containers of detergent and they easily last for 2 months. My biggest concern was the... read full review »

I have a Kenmore HE4t. The washer does a good job and is easy to operate. Unfortunately, I've had to replace 4 plastic baffles since purchasing it. [There are 3 baffles, one's been replaced twice.] If the other models in this line have the same plastic baffles, buyers should expect to have to replace 1 or 2 of them per year at a cost of about $24 each. I have always purchased Kenmore appliances. This is the first one to disappoint.

Kenmore Elite HE5t

We have had this washer for three months and love it. It is so quiet sometimes we go out into the garage to make sure it is working. We are amazed at how little water it uses, yet the clothes come out very clean. The higher spin cycles mean less time in the dryer. We do a lot of gardening and have lots of white t-shirts to clean, using the whitest whites cycle does the trick. The steam cycle also gets out stains very well. We can fit a queen comforter and sheets in the tub without a problem. Remember to leave the door open after each use to dry out the gasket and avoid the smell many front loaders... read full review »

I love my front loader

We hae had our Kenmore 5t since August 2006.  I wish we would have had one when the kids

were home.  They are great.  I don't have to go to the laundry mat to wash my king size blankets and sleeping bags.

look fo other options

This washer seems to have a lot of options for wash cycles but once you pick one you cannot change any of the settings such as water temperature ect.. Also it does not really clean your clothes very well. A few times my clothes have gone in with no stains and come out with stains. When you wash jeans or pants all the legs get so tangled and knotted together it is hard to get them out with out stretching all of the fabric. I now mostly use the delicate cycle because of the stress it is putting on my clothes. I would not recommend this product.

regret this purchase

We purchased the washer, dryer, pedestals and storage tower. The washer worked great for a year. The wash cycles are long. After twelve months, the machine broke down. We called Sears. They sent a technician. He ordered the part and informed us it would take a week to get the part in. It has been more than a month. The service is terrible, the people in the service dept are rude and tell you it's not their problem. They refer you to the technician. He's frustrated because he's overworked. Sears says they contract services and say technician will call. It's been two more weeks and no call. Meanwhile,... read full review »

Love it!

You get what you pay for. I love Kenmore, we own everything Kenmore from BBQ to vacuum, and they have all been great. I love all the cycles, my son has eczema, so the child wash is great! My husband was a plumber for a while, so I also really appreciated the sanitary cycle too! There are so many wonderful things about this set, I could go on and on, but I will only tell you one more thing I love about these. The savings. Our water bill has gone down $10.00 a month and our power has gone down $25.00. So, you are going to pay for them with your money you will save on utilities. Happy washing, and... read full review »

Stay Away from this product

We purchased this as a set and have had problems since we bought them. The washer has been repaired several times and they still can't fix it. They only come out during the week when we work and don't do Saturdays anymore. I have purchased every appliance we have at Sears and never had this problem. This is the only appliance they don't have a clue how to fix.... Do yourself a favor and choose a different brand. Kenmore is a good product. I have a Refrigerator that's over 20 years old. So why can't they just give us a new one. The one we have is 4 months old and yet it DON"T work.

Love it!!

I have had my new front-load washer for about 6 weeks and I couldn't be happier. I read the other bad reviews so I was a little worried about quality but I have had NO PROBLEMS. All the choices and options for wash cycles can be a little overwhelming ...which really is a good thing! Would be perfect for a large family because you can really pack it full of clothes. I would definitely recommend.
