Kenmore Elite Oasis 4.6 cu. ft. Canyon Capacity Washer Reviews

Top-loading washing machines are not as desirable as front-loading machines because they require more water and are often harsher on clothing. If your budget does not allow you to purchase a front-loader, top-loading machines are still effective. Some people may even prefer top-loaders because they tend to fit larger loads. The Kenmore Elite Canyon Capacity washing machine is a top-loader that is both affordable and effective.

Most people who purchase this unit are happy with its functionality. One positive feature of the Kenmore Elite Canyon Capacity is that it can wash a large amount of laundry at once. “What used to take me an entire day off to do laundry now takes me at most 3 hours,” says one reviewer. Other reviewers have not had such favorable experiences with the unit. Display panel issues tend to be a common issue with this washer. According to one reviewer, “When I got a service tech to come look at it, the first thing he asked was if I'd purchased an extended warranty because I was going to need it.” Not all reviewers had display problems and most do recommend this washer. DO NOT BUY THIS

This machine Is TROUBLE.  The computer board has gone out TWICE. Over $200 for the part and that's with me replacing it. As I type this now, the machine is turned over so that I can look to see what part is making the noise. It's broke again.  All I know is it's not but 2 years old and I'm sick of...

This washer is horrible. I've owned it for three years but only been able to use it for 1.5 years. I am planning to send a Christmas card to the repairman because he spent more time in my house than most of my relatives! As of today (of course now that the three year warranty ran out) there is an F51 error code -- which means ********** here I come!

Purchased in 2008, I used to think the Kenmore brand was pretty decent. We had no problems with this machine for the first 16 months and thought that the HE machine that I paid around $800 for was a good buy. Then the lights started blinkin' like a blinkin' beacon, and the washer began sounding like R2D2 of Star Wars fame. I researched the problem on-line and found out that the electronic control board has been going out on these units at a regular pace. Sears did offer a recall, but my machine was just after the serial number in the recall. (There is also a class action law suit that is in...

Not in this Lifetime!!!

This is only the third washer I have owned in my forty years of marriage, the first two being Maytags.  We purchased this washer in August, 2006, as we had a  new home and I wanted a matching set with a large capacity.

I have struggled with this washer since day-one, and continue to be disappointed in its performance.  I have found that it will not wash in warm water - only cold, cool or hot.  It refers to this as ATC (Automatic Temp Control).  In the past, I have always been able to select the temp of the water, and, while this machine has that option, it overrides my selection if I select...

I researched washes for 2 months trying to find the right one; small yet large enough to hold large items like blankets;  decided on this size as it was in-between.  I am mortified that I cannot control the water level.  What moron designed this??  I can set all kinds of temps; `types of washes', mess with time but NOT WATER LEVEL.  With large loads, tis is exasperating as the water does not cover the clothes.  Even if I mess witht the load, or rearrange it, I might get another inch of water, then it shuts off and continues `washing'.  UGH!!

Worst washer I've ever owned

Not only do I have problems with bunching and unbalanced loads like other reviewers, but the stupid thing keeps beeping. If that's not annoying enough, in the middle of the night while we were sleeping it started by itself and the constant beeping started again. I've unplugged it for the 15 min to reset it, but it didn't help. I have to call to have it serviced again. I wish I could give it a rating of zero.

Talk about convenience

I have not had this washer very long, but my old Kenmore died at 25yrs old with a record 6 loads or more every week. What I find to be most energy efficient is the drying time. I can wash a load of heavy towels put in the dryer which is the old Kenmore dryer by the way and the drying time is cut in half! This machine wrings out the clothes nearly dry already and that in itself saves me time and money. I can actually get my comforter really clean now! Time will tell how durable it is but til then I'm enjoying the heck out of it, did I say enjoy?

Kenmore Elite Oasis 4.5

If you need to wash more than delicate clothes DO NOT BUY. This washer does not have the ability to get clothes that have any dirt on them clean. I couldn't be more serious. This is not considered mechanical so a 5 year warranty will not help you get it replaced. I thought a washer should wash but Sears will not agree to replace it. The response is sorry... but the technician says its working properly. YOU WILL BE SORRY IF YOU BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Three weeks of torture!

So, you guessed it! I have owned this machine for 3 weeks and it has been three weeks of utter torture! I have had 3 service calls on it! It continues to leak from the same spot on the washer...it throws itself off balance all the time and it is generally a waste of my time! Every time they come and fix it, I manage to do four loads and then it dies again. Then I wait a week for them to come out again, and then...yup! four more loads and we start all over again with the service calls... THIS IS HORRIBLE!!!! DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MACHINE!!!

DO NOT PURCHASE -BEWARE OF THIS PRODUCT

Too bad Zero isn't an option for a rating! We purchased the Kenmore Oasis Washer and Dryer set in June 2006. They broke down so often, I was given a replacement set in March 2007 after going to the store and literally having a melt down in the appliance department in front of many customers. The newest washer has already had to have the struts replaced and the lid hinge replaced since Sept. 2007. The newest dryer has had to be serviced twice for an F41 code - apparently they didn't hook up all the wires at the factory!! The first dryer had a huge hole in the metal lint duct and had to have a computer... read full review »

Over-rated Washer

I purchased in Nov 2007 and while I am impressed with the load size and the reduced number of loads that I have to complete for a family of 4 - I am VERY dissatisfied that there is a small leak from the detergent dispenser which runs down the front and leaves a small puddle on the floor after 3-4 loads. According to the Sears repairman there is no solution for this. Also the clothes are very wrinkled from the spin cycle.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS MACHINE!!

This is the worst machine I have ever owned. The 20 year old used one we had worked so much better. It doesn't get something as simple as dirt out of the clothes. The hinges on the lid broke within a month after we got it. We've had to buy new clothes to replace ones that are stained from dirt after only one wearing. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. Now Sears won't do anything but give us a $100 credit towards the purchase of another machine. I don't call that Satisfaction Guaranteed!! I would give this a rating of NO STARS if it were possible.

OASIS -- NOT!

This Washer works great when it works. I used to work for Sears and Really Loved this Unit when I First got it. But I am sorry that I have ever bought it from Sears. I bought a Protection Agreement thank god! I called Service 2 weeks ago and told them the problem I was having with this washer. I knew that it just needed a sensor replaced. I told the 1-800 Service Tech to have this sensor prior to arriving to my house. They showed up last week without it saying that they do not carry this sensor on the trucks even knowing I told them to bring it. This Sensor goes on about 1 out 5 Oasis Washers within... read full review »

Perfect

There are seven of us in our family & this machine couldn't be more perfect. It is so wonderful that my husband now helps with the laundry. It holds so much & everything comes out clean on the first try. I also have the matching dryer, which is as equally as wonderful. I had the front loaders first & traded them in & I couldn't be happier. Love this machine.
