Kenmore Elite Oasis Agitator 4.5 cu. ft. Capacity Top-Load Washer —
As others have stated, I was very hesitant to buy ANY washer with negative reviews on every single model of every single brand. I really wanted to find one with completely mechanical controls, but we are in the electronic age and that wasnt' possible. The Sears warranty and extended warranty were big factors in my choice --- replacement with a different model being an option. I've had this set for 6 months and have had absolutely NO problems. You CAN stop and start the washer without it emptying. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY and consult them when in doubt. I've had no problem opening the washer as directed in the manual to add things or to change the cycle. This washer has a very large capacity, much larger than my similarly-sized old model. It uses less water, too, as I've kept track of that. The catalyst cleaning (stain treat) option is wonderful. With or without that option, everything we wash comes out noticeably cleaner than with our former washer. Even my teen daughter commented on the cleaner clothes. I've had no error messages at all. I've washed all sort of clothes, a floor mat, and dog crate pads without anything becoming unbalanced. If you measure the detergent properly then there's no problem with excess suds. I use Arm & Hammer liquid detergent -- the same as with my old machine, but with tremendously cleaner clothes from this machine. I did go ahead with the extended warranty due to the cost of control panel replacement that I've experienced with an oven. I love the fact that if the thing gets fried due to a power surge or electrical storm it's still covered under the warranty.
As others have said, be assured that if any problem arises I'll post it here. But so far this is the best washer I've owned in 30 years.
