This vacuum does everything but wash your floors! carpet or bare no problem for this vacuum. This kenmore intuition meets ALL my demands. Long cord, long hose, lightweight, the petmate tool actually gets the pet hair on furniture AND has space to store onboard plus 3 more onboard cleaning tools! Did I mention the cord retracts automatically? no more winding the cord up and down over and over..
I exchanged the kenmore progressive upright for this one and I'm glad I did. this is easy on the hands, (the progressive upright actually gave me blisters it is so bulky, heavy and unwieldy) the Intuition's swivel head and wand make it glide around corners. The dirt sensor is very helpful and accurate, and the vacuum's suction is amazing. The touch controls make going from carpet to bare floors to throw rugs a snap. You also can remove the wand and floorpiece from the powermate head with one release and replace it by snapping it back in without having to bend down. I don't see how another reviewer had a problem with the floor piece disengaging from the powermate head as it is held in place by a metal bar that is only released if you step on the release 'button'. Also you can use the powermate head on bare floors too if you choose bare floor on the touch controls. Quick releases for handle and wand contribute to the ease of use. I am mightily impressed. Yes it is pricey but if you think about it you won't need to buy a new vaccum cleaner every year as you do with the cheap ones. You actually spend this amount of money over time in replacement vacuums!
