Better than what we had.

We love this cooktop. Been using for over a year now and it does a great job. Haven't suffered the knob problem yet, but they do seem kind of flimsy, just trying to be careful when turning them. The grates seem alright once you get them lined up right. Wasn't to sure about the bridge burner, but it's... read full review »

Holy Crap! I have one knob that works all 5 burners. Who's idea was it to use "plastic" on a gas stove??? Kinda embarrassing when guests help cook. Goes right along with my "Pro" refrigerator and freezer. Sears switch out the frig, that never worked, BUT it's not the same as the freezer because...

I can't believe the ****** knobs on this.  Plastic that breaks with minimal use.  Some kind of tin foil covering that can't take the heat.  Hey Sears, did you realize that stoves emit heat?  Now the cheap, plastic, broken knobs are so wobbly I can't tell if the gas is on or off - feeling dizzy, light growing dim, aaargh

Excellent line of products!

This gas cooktop is wonderful!!! The bridge burner is quite handy and there is plenty of room for several pots/pans. This would make an excellent addition to any kitched!

Knobs

I too have had this cooktop for a little over a year. Within the first month I had to replace a knob at over $50.00 US dollars. Now, a year later, 3 of the 5 knobs are cracked again. Considering this is suppose to be a "PRO" product, I would not recommend this until they address the design of the knobs.

We have had this cooktop for about a month. I love being a guy because it is powerful. The amount of flame this thing throws out is huge. Can boil water in a minute. The dial control of the flme is good too--down to a low simmer. The look of it is industrial and i like it. Now the bad things....the grates, i agree are a bad design. They scratched the stainless with the first couple of days but you know what--they are convered by the grates so I dont really care. If you turn past the lite and then back, the igniting will blow your hair back. Probably all like this being gas but jeez, that takes...

Looks great until you have to clean it

The cooktop works awesome. But the downside is the scratches that are unavoidable when you are cleaning it. I tried different wipes, cloths, sprays, etc, and there is always new tiny scratches after I clean it. Besides that, it's great to cook on. If I were to purchase a new cooktop, or recommend one to a friend, I would not chose this one.

Do Not Waste you MONEY

$1100 Dollars and the Knobs that are made of PLASTIC yes you heard me right Plastic and they are easy to brake OF COURES you can relace them their only $48.72 A peice.  I asked if the design for the replacements were changed to help with this DEFECT , ANSWER:  NO why when you can shell out another $50 for a new knob.

This is the TOP OF THE LINE????  I have NEVER BROKEN  KNOB ON A RANGE UNTIL NOW .

Kenmore pro 36 gas drop cooktop

SOOOO disapointed ....I love to cook. This is not a cooking friendly. The controls are bad.. igniter are poor and the gas control is either high or low not in between. It takes forever to even boil water because the only burner you can boil on is maybe the large on and there is only one large burner. The knob locks for safety don't lock well and filled our home with gas. We also purchased a telescope vent and it is just noisy.

Very Good Overall

I have had my gas cooktop for 2 years now. And haven't had the problems with the knobs. I do have some minor scratches, but it's stainless steel. Power on all burners is great. I am very happy with my cooktop and will buy it again if I build again.

Good but has issues

I have had this cooktop for over a year now. I too, have had the stainless scratch. All the knobs have broken and I don't know where to get parts so they are almost unusable. I feel that the 3 standard burners are underpowered. The big burner is great for bringing water to a boil quickly and the small burner is great for those slow simmer projects, but the other burners do not produce enough heat for sauteing etc. So if I want to cook several dishes at once, only the dish on the big burner cooks as expected, the others take much more time. For the price of this unit, i should be a lot happier.

Grates caused horrible scratches

Improper design of grates. Pads on bottom of grates were put in wrong places/not enough pads to protect the stainless steel. Loved the look of the cook top until all the scratches, even ruts appeared from the cast iron grates rubbing the stainless steel. Technicians even agreed poor design of grates.

Cooks Great but scratches easily!

I would not recommend this cooktop as it is impossible to clean without scratching. I have had it replaced once under warranty due to the scratches that occurred after using the recommended cleaner and a microfiber cloth. It has also scratched from taking the grates on and off, as well as the knobs. This is not a practical cooktop for someone who truly cooks. I am looking to replace it after only one year of use.

looks good and works well for the basics. i have found that i never use the "tri-burner" so that is pretty much a waste of resources. 90% of what i do is on the main burner.

the biggest problem with with POOR CONTROL which is why i would recommend one of the big gourmet brands...especially at this price.

some of the burners dont really have any activity in between low and high settings. i.e., there really is no medium.

the main burner actually goes from low to medium flame, back down to low flame, on its way to a high setting so the control of the heat is really poor.

the small simmer burner...

Love it!!

I looked at several stovetops, read reviews, and compaired prices before we settled on this stove. Cleaning is easy and the grates have bumpers on the bottom to prevent scratching. A problem with past stoves. The knobs are easy to use and the burners light easily. We still have adjusting to do. We have a toddler in the house so having the knobs on the top was important. The right full burner does not work quite right yet, the middle burner burns at a higher flame when on so using the griddle is hard. The middle burns food. We have yet to adjust this. Over all I love the stove and the different... read full review »
