Do Not Buy This Unit! The bottom 5500 watt element burns out every year and needs to be special ordered. I have a water softener too, yet I will be replacing my 3rd 5500 watt bottom element in three years! I have the extended 5 year warranty but still have to wait a week for a tech to come to the house and then he will have to special order the 5500 watt element and that will take another 5 days or so, and then I will need to notify him to replace it! Therefore, be prepared to wait two weeks for a complete repair until next year. Unfortunately my element always burns out in December when parts orders are delayed by Christmas mail.
