I HAVE 4 KIDS AND I WAS TOLD THAT I AT LEAST AN 80 GALLON WATER HEATER,BUT I DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH SPACE.55 GALLON TANK WAS TO TALL SO I HAD TO GO WITH THE 50GALLON TANK WITH DUAL ELEMENTS ONE 5500 WATTS THE OTHER 3800 WATTS.DID NOT THINK THIS WATER HEATER WOULD KEEP UP WHEN EVERYBODY SHOWERED BUT TO MY...review »
I have replaced both thermostats and the pop off valve. If water temp is set at more than 2, the circuit breaker on the thermostats trip. In other words, I have water that is warmer than lukeworm but not hot enough to worry about scalding. The tank has started leaking around the pop off valve where the...review »

Kenmore Power Miser 6, 50 Gallon Medium Height,... Ratings and Reviews
The unit has been installed for one day, replacing a Kenmore that was still working after 22 yrs, still no hot water. Set the temps higher, water is hot, then cold within seconds. Very unhappy with this unit and Sears products.
It is a good water heater, good price ($229), enough for 4 people taking a shower (both termostat set at 130F), easy to install (same as any).
So far, i would buy this water heater again but that it just in my case.
I bought this water heater based on its specifications and price, despite some of the poor reviews shown here.
The dimensions of the heater and the positions of the water and electrical hook-ups were similar to my old heater so installation was easy.
This heater is excellent value for money and mine works without any problem. The thermostats allow adjustment between warm and scalding. The relief valve never blows. Unlike one reviewer I have never had a problem with the pilot light. Was never able to find it but was not too concerned as this is an electric heater.

Reason for purchase: the brand X that came with our vacation house sprung a leak after being 10 years old. After seeing the low rating and reading the negative reviews I was hesitant to get this model, but the dimensions were perfect for what I could fit in my space. I'm glad I bought it because it was a snap to hook up (electric unit) and although I've only had it for a month, it works perfectly... plenty of hot water and quick recovery. I installed a Sears electric water heater in my other house many years ago and also installed one for my neighbor a couple years ago. I have no complaints whatsoever...review »
The unit kept tripping off due to water getting to hot. Sears would not provide new thermostats without charging me for labor even though it is a five minute "do it yourself job". The hot water heater is only 20 months old. The last hot water heater in the house lasted 31 years without any problems.
This water heater typically produces lukewarm water - even with the thermostats set high. The only time we get hot water from it is within an hour after it's been drained of the lukewarm water (such as after a long shower) and has had time (45 minutes or so) to reheat the tank. It seems the only time the heating elements are "on" is after the heater has been drained of the "lukewarm" water it usually produces. When I've turned up the thermostats we end up with lukewarm water most of the time and, occasionally, searing hot water. I'm loath to call a technician to look at this as it's $69 minimum...review »
