Kenmore Progressive Canister Vacuum with Telescopic Wand, Blue Moon White —
Before purchasing a canister, I reviewed many units including Miele, Bosch, and other Kenmore models, I was wary at first about this unit. I had read several reviews, and it seemed positive for the most part. I have two shorthair cats who shed everywhere. I wanted a vacuum that could clean without blowing dust and hair about the house. This unit is quiet, has strong suction, and good reach. It works well on the stairs, can be lifted easily with the large handle, and will even perch itself on the stair step. The only drawback to this unit is the cover over the accessories. It's kind of flimsy, and I could see it snapping off some day. (I did make sure that I got the unit that is a solid color, I had a feeling the other available models in the progressive line that have translucent color (red, or sedona) seemed more likely to crack). The performance of this unit is surprisingly good. I bought a unit with a power head specifically for rugs, but I appreciate the ability to switch the head to the horsehair floor brush. I find this attachment cleans wood floors great! The small powerbrush also works well on furniture.
Some of the other brands offer non-electric turbo brushes that seem to stop working as soon as they touch the carpeting. In addition the unit come with 1 HEPA cloth bag that is still in the unit after 4 weeks, but I purchased allergen bags to replace the HEPA cloth bag, which I expect to work just as well. To date I have no major complaints
