“Good luck finding replacement filters!”

Kenmore Progressive Canister Vacuum with Telescopic Wand, Blue Moon White — 

Overall, I really like my Kenmore Progressive Canister Vac. It's light, maneuverable and cleans well. However, the small "Power-Mate Jr" (smaller head for cleaning stairs, furniture, etc.) broke in less than a year (I only used it to clean stairs). Fixing it costs more than replacing it, which still isn't cheap. Problem #2 - I cannot find the "motor safety filter" replacements ANYWHERE. How ridiculous is it to sell your own brand of vacuums (not available anywhere but Sears) and then fail to sell replacement parts on your website or in your stores? On top of that, the part number given in the manual for this filter apparently doesn't exist... I've searched high & low on the Internet (even checked Ebay) looking for the "US part #" and the "Canadian part #" and all searches have failed to generate even one result. The manual states I cannot wash the filter (it will lose dust trapping ability) and I absolutely cannot find replacements. Very frustrating for a vac I've only had for a year and a half. Even though I like the vacuum overall, I'll never buy another Kenmore after having so many problems finding replacement parts.
