My whole family and I are very big Kenmore believers! We all have Kenmore canister vacum's. Recently, my "good old Kenmore canister vacum" needed to be replaced due to many many years use. I bought the new vacum and found that I was disappointed. I like the vacum for its suction and how well it cleans...review »

Kenmore Progressive Canister Vacuum with... Ratings and Reviews
"Here is an extensive analysis of Kenmore's Model 25813 canister.
(This model is identical to Model 25812 in every feature except Model 25813 has a 2 foot longer power cord.)
A detailed breakdown of Kenmore's Model 25813 canister is provided. I have also compared it to other Kenmore canister models, some less expensive and some more expensive. This also covers why to you should purchase a canister over an upright vacuum.
Feature by feature, Kenmore's Model 25813 canister stands up well against the competition. In short, it does a great job of cleaning, it's built tough and will last for years....review »
Now I know why my mother would NEVER use any other vacuum than a Kenmore canister! I was the very UN-proud owner of a Dyson which I bought because I have 4 dogs...all big shedders. I was never pleased with the performance of the Dyson and don't let their hype fool you!
This Progressive canister sucks up every bit of hair that's on my carpet and does it in one pass. Another plus is that it is self-propelled so it's very easy on your back. It's lightweight without being "cheesy" so vacuuming is a breeze. I also like the feature that tells you when the carpet is clean (the clean indicator)....review »
28' Cord Length is great; it allows me to vacuum most of the floor in 3 rooms on one plug. Having the retractable cord is handy too. The Ergonomic handle feels comfortable in the hand. The finger controls are handy, no having to bend down to turn on or off. I appreciate the Aluminum wand. My previous vacuum had plastic wands which did not last very well. The light at the end of the wand is appreciated when not using the carpet brush. I was not entirely pleased with the 9 in. horsehair floor brush. The bristles are too stiff. Thankfully I can use my old floor brush on the wand, so I can...review »
I have had an Electrolux vacuum, came back to Kenmore. The last Kenmore I had lasted for many, many years and I am certain this one will. After I got this, I called my sister and told her "It's actually fun to use this!". She said she understood because several years ago she had bought a Kirby, but is back to Kenmore. The variable power is great for cleaning everything from floors to drapes. The infrared dirt sensor keeps you from wasting time (and energy) because you concentrate where extra "passes" are needed. The fact that the brush does not rotate when it is set for floors is great! ...review »
It was time for a new vacuum. First, I bought a cheap Galaxy uprite and the belt kept slipping off. It is now the basement vac. I have a Kenmore Canister that is about 5 years old up at the summer house and I'm happy with it. I decided to spend the "big bucks" on a new Kenmore Canister. I got the Sedona (despite the Orange color) because it was a closeout special that had been returned by another customer. It was serviced and I checked it out to be sure it was OK. I also got the Merchandise Protection for it for 5 years. I believe these types of agreements are useless on some products but I think...review »
bought this about a month or 2 ago. i was going to buy the one in consumer reports, but this was the same with the added bonus of the variable power, so i got it instead. the color is just awful, but i didn't buy it for appearances. i had considered an electrolux because it supposedly did a really good job and was better at pet hair, but after doing my research, opted for this one. the electrolux apparently has major reliability issues...beware.
i have 2 cats and 3 dogs and a toddler. though i've only had this for a couple of months, it's doing a good job. we have mostly bare floors with some...review »
I've had this vacuum for over a year and I can't say a single negative thing about it. I vacuum about every other day and it still works as well as it did right out of the box. It has more suction than any vacuum I've had and a nice strong motorized brush to go along with it (and even a mini motorized head for the stairs and furniture!). The wand is lightweight and adjusts to different lengths for the job that I'm doing. The wand even has it's OWN light so you can still see under furniture without the head on! The head pops off with the touch of a foot pedal to use the attachments or to get into...review »
I saw a review with a high rating on consumer reports for a Kenmore vacuum cleaner. When I got to the store the sales person convinced me that this one was the same as the one on consumer reports minus a few features. So I bought it.
We had a really old vacuum cleaner that did a decent job and this hasn't impressed in comparison. Believe me, after spending this money I tried to convince myself how great it is...but it just has been one disappointment after another. Here are the problems:
1) it gets clogged easily
2) it just doesn't do a deep carpet clean that I would like (even at the low setting)....review »
I have cleaned private homes professionally for twenty-five years and the Kenmore Progressive canister is by far the best vacuum cleaner I have ever used. I love the quick release telescoping wand because it's easy on the lower back and convenient for edging floors. Many of my clients have bought one at my request and like me they love it! Over the years I have used Orek, Rainbow, Hoover, Wind Tunnel, Kirby, and Electrolux but in my opinion the Kenmore blows them all away! [The only vacuum cleaner that compares is the new central cleaning systems that have a quick release wand.] The Kenmore makes...review »
We owned a Kenmore canister before & thought this time we would try an upright vacuum, but exchanged it for this canister vacuum. Having to switch back & forth as much as we do using the tools the canister is much more user friendly. This unit was Consumer Reports top pick. Works well & did a good job with strong suction on carpets or bare floors. Nice airflow adjustment for finer things like curtains or drapes. Tool airflow worked well with pet hair, which is our biggest use. Weight wasn't an issue. Good emissions & Hepa filtering. For improved filtering the cloth bags are much better but also...review »
While this vac is about 50% more quiet than a similar Hoover, design of the wand makes use more difficult. The power head is large, and very effective for rugs. It is intended for hard-floor use also, but I don't find it cleans as well as a traditional hard-floor tool. There is also a medium sized brush tool you can use as a hard-floor tool, but it does not swivel easily to get under furniture. In fact, low-overhung surfaces like underneath a sofa are just not cleanable with this vac.
The cord mechanism, wheels, and attachments work great; but, the wand (pipe) is very difficult to remove from the...review »
I have had this vacuum for approximately 4 months now and I can't believe the difference. I was using a bagless cannister which was always covered in dust after using it. This vacuum cleaner not only does a fantastic job cleaning the carpets and bare floors, but there is virtually no elimination of dust from the vacuum cleaner which has really cut down on the amount of dusting I have to do. You can actually see the dirt being pulled from the floors and carpets into the powehead even before the the powerhead reaches the location of the dirt. A fantastic vacuum cleaner and I highly recommend it....review »
The Kenmore Progressive Canister Vacuum does circles around the Oreck. I had a Kenmore canister vacuum before the Oreck and really liked it but decided to try an upright (Oreck), I was not happy with the Oreck. The Kenmore picks up the dirt so much better and you can clean more hard to reach areas with the canister vacuum as well as you have an all in one vacuum that does it all. I have three dogs in the house and its great for picking up the dog hair as well as the fine sand that comes off their feet. If I ever have to purchase another vacuum it will definitely be another Kenmore canister without...review »
