Most Helpful Favorable Review

The device immediately change the quality of water in the house.  Although we had a minor concern about the size of the tank, it provided an ample for usual household use.  We've never run low on water.  The flow is a bit slow, but no worse than the filtered bar sink water faucet that this replaced. ...

Most Helpful Critical Review

I replaced a Culligan filtration system with this one, and it is far superior to the Culligan. Filters are REALLY easy to replace, and the water tastes great with one less filter to purchase than there was for the Culligan (no "polishing" filter, which I don' t miss at all).

My only issue is that the...

I got the this system about 2 years ago.  Replaced pre and post filters 3-4 times.  Today when we got home from work, water was all over our kitchen and living room area.  I found out water was leaking from the top of the system where the filters located.  I think the RO filter caused the problem.  There is almost no where to get a replacemnt for RO filter.

Summary:

1. Good water

2. Bad leaking protection mechanism

3. Poor part availability

The Great and the Bothersome

The Great: The elegant faucet is the first thing others will see, but it is the water quality that will win your friends and family over. The taste is so clean that, while we make ice in trays from this water, we rarely ever add them to a drink. The faucet is easy to use, and I find that my young children are drinking more water since they can easily get it themselves, and young kids LOVE to do things for themselves! And more personally, I fun sense of superiority over people who schlep bottles of water home from the store. My water is better, not full of chemicals leached from the plastic, my... read full review »

We put this in a couple years ago and have really enjoyed the water.  About 8 months ago we needed new filters so I walked into my sears store, picked up the twin pack pre-post filters and a RO replacement cartridge and we're back in business again.

Now we need new cartridges and my local sears only has the pre-post filters for it.  There are crickets online about the RO cartridge.

The cartridge I have is 42 38577 which is nowhere to be found.  I do find what probably is the match as 3857705 on some sears parts direct.com site for 51 bucks.  Is that right, $51?

A serious letdown by Sears...

I like water a lot

I could not wait to get my R/o system installed. Love water. My father in law bought this unit and recommended it to me. He was in the water conditioning business. This is my second install. This unit is much better than my last one for install. I recommend reading the entire instruction manual first. There are a few items you will miss if you don't take the time to brush thru the instructions. The only drawback on this unit is the water faucet. It is plastic. They could have taken the time to make the faucet so it could rotate to the direction you want the handle to face. Plus, the tiny screw... read full review »

quality is far from good.

I bought this one about two years ago and didn't use it very often. The storage tank lost pressure very soon. The overall building quality is poor.

Great unit

We love ours, it was not a problem to install, you'll want to make sure you have a spot to drain. It has great pressure coming out, and we can probably get about two gallons before the pressure drops. This is plenty for most uses. I do like to use the water in the humidifiers for the childrens' bedrooms, and it doesn't have quite enough pressure to fill all of the tanks, problem is solved by filling one in the morning and one at night. My thoughts on this one verses the more expensive Kenmore Elite series can be summed up quite easily - "Filters". The two systems use exactly the same filters, so... read full review »

I'm sold!!

I purchased this unit when the public water quality began to suffer due to low water levels caused by extended drought. In spite of our municipal facility's best efforts, the water from the tap smelled terrible and was all but undrinkable. I went to Sears.com and ordered this r/o system for store pickup, and was able to pick it up and install it by the next afternoon. Installation was a breeze, and now my family is spoiled by the quality of the water to the point that they will draw water from the tap rather than twisting the top off a bottle of expensive bottled water. The included faucet reminds... read full review »

Undecided

I can mirror the comments of the previous reviewers. I bought this to replace an older USfilter system. So iinstallation was a breeze since all the hard connections were already done. I can also say that this system is much louder than the previous 2 systems we've had. It is very annoying! Time to see how essential the air gap is.

Owned product for 4 years

I have had good luck with this product until only yesterday. I woke up to a huge puddle of water on floor- the top of the osmosis filter housing somehow cracked in two places and water was pouring out. From molding experience it appears that this is on a knit line of the plastic where it failed.

Great tasting water!

Clear concise directions make for an easy install! Purchased because we live in the AZ desert city of Casa Grande where water quality leaves much to be desired. This RO filter improves the taste of our water to better than bottled!
