Kenmore Single Undersink Drinking Water System —
I bought this filter system based on the ConsumerReports.org review and rating. So far, I am disappointed. By the way, I do most of my own household plumbing and installations. I include this only as a skill level reference.
I had two Quality Control Problems:
3 out of the 4 push-to-connect fittings were installed with their collets. The other was not. I did not realize one was missing until I did a pressure/leak check and sprayed water everywhere. I cannot understand why only 3 of 4 were shipped installed. The missing one was in the bag with the screws and other mounting hardware. Even if people decide not to use the supplied cold water fitting and went with a compression fitting instead, they would still use the push-to-connect/collet with 1/4" OD tubing on the filter housing. It just doesn't make sense not to ship it installed.
The other is that the faucet leaks. Not from any of the fittings but from the faucet assembly itself. There is an invisible fracture where the mounting post meets the faucet housing. It took me over an hour to diagnose where the leak was coming from. I was only able to find it after removing the entire assembly from the sink. I tightened the hex nut just to the point that the faucet did not move (as per the instructions).
As you can tell from my and other reviews, the cheap plastic faucet that comes with the filter system is the weak link.
I cannot comment on the quality of the water yet.
