The faucet on my reverse osmosis system began leaking after 15 years. To replace the faucet would cost the same or more than this entire system.
I like that no water is waisted doing osmosis and flow rate to faucet is higher. The replacement filter cost is much less.
I had to turn off the water supply...

The water tastes pretty good and the consumer reports test of the H2O quality are good. However, the design on the spigot arm is faulty. The "notch" for the O ring that allows the faucet arm to pivot is compromised every time you actuate the on/off lever. Consequently the weakness in the O ring notch...

I bought this filter system based on the ConsumerReports.org review and rating. So far, I am disappointed. By the way, I do most of my own household plumbing and installations. I include this only as a skill level reference.
I had two Quality Control Problems:
3 out of the 4 push-to-connect fittings were installed with their collets. The other was not. I did not realize one was missing until I did a pressure/leak check and sprayed water everywhere. I cannot understand why only 3 of 4 were shipped installed. The missing one was in the bag with the screws and other mounting hardware. Even if people...read full review »
Pros - It filters nicely. You can definitely taste the difference in the water.
Cons - Cheap construction. My first one is a couple years old and still working. My second one never worked right. I snapped the thin plastic dispenser when cleaning the third one and now it doesn't work.
I understand the comments about installation but somewhere I ran across a review that suggested making absolutely sure the connections were deep enough. I did that, plumbed it in with the stuff it came with and no leaks. Yeah, it doesn't come with a filter but it's MUCH less expensive than the competition, as are the filters it uses, and Consumer Reports rates it a Best Buy.
We live in an area with otherwise excellent water- no nasty bugs or chemicals - but our tap water still tastes like tap water, if you know what I mean.
We wanted to eliminate the weekly trips to the store for distilled water. Our municipal water is very clean, so we ruled out more complex filters. We also live in a dry area, so we ruled out reverse osmosis, which wastes 4 or more gallons for every gallon filtered. We just wanted a simple filter that would remove the chlorine and "off" tastes.
We bought this unit based on a recent Consumer Reports review. It took me one hour to install, and I didn't...read full review »
They can be hard to install because of location, but careful layout so connections can be leak checked before mounting alleviates headaches.
Water tastes absolutely fantastic and teeing to icemaker ensures your ice does not ruin taste.
BUT!!! I've had two of these plastic cartridge holders bust over the years flooding house. This time I will look for one that has a lifetime expectancy (not the cartridge).
This filter comes highly rated by Consumer Reports and is inexpensive. We have found that this filter very effectively removes chlorine and off tastes from our water. This unit was not trivial to install, but I completed in in about 30 minutes. I did it using the included hardware, but my sink already had an existing hole so I didn't have to drill one. Once installed, it is very convienent to use. It's now been working for 9 months with no problems.
We bought this water filter by consumer reports' recommendation and are very disappointed. First, the water tastes worst than tap water. Second, it was a nightmare to instal...had to go to hardware store twice and still got leakage. Third, in less than one month after installing it the faucet broke. This is a plastic, thin and fragile faucet and it broke during normal operation. Strongly do not recommend it.
I had heard great reviews for this product and at the relatively low cost and Consumer Reports ratings, I get it a shot in a non critical sink.
My review is based on purchasing online.
Here is what I've learned.
1. IT DOES NOT COME WITH A FILTER ELEMENT!
You'll have to buy one separately with bumps the price up $16-18.
2. The amount of 1/4 rubber hose given is not generous so you should measure your setup and buy more before you install. I have about a foot left for a tight fit setup.
3. The hose connectors are of the "Quick Connect" type such as "John Guest Quick Connect Fittings" and so require...read full review »
Right out of the box this was a disaster. There was no easy way to attach it to this to the plumbing.
I went to the hardware store and purchased a collar like those used for ice makers. I installed the unit accordings to the insructions. When I turned the main water valve back on every single connection on the fiter shot out water.
