Hi. Not sure if this is a drain problem. Hopefully, someone can advise me. My Kenmore 253.51399105 side by side freezer/refrigerator is emitting an odor. The smell is similar to some sort of oily mechanical scent. I followed the scent to an area in the refrigerator above the bottom shelf. There's a small opening (about 2 inches by 4 inches) leading to the freezer side. Inside the opening it looks like foam that has sank in and there's a dark oily looking substance on the foam. I'm not sure if the opening was always there or if the opening was closed and the foam recently collapsed in toward the freezer. I can't get a really good look inside the opening to see if draining tubes are observable. The freezer and refrigerator continue to work fine; and there is no leakage. Does this situation sound at all familiar to anyone? I called for a Sears appointment; however they won't come out until Thursday. Meanwhile the smell is driving me crazy and I want to know if it is even safe to inhale. In addition, if there is a quick fix, I'd like to hear about it; I can always cancel the Sears appointment.
