Sears kitchen remodeling service is a DIY service

Kitchen Remodeling —

I had used Sears Home Remodeling Services to have new kitchen counter-tops installed only, no cabinets or major renovation, just counter-tops.  The initial sales team were great, friendly and patience.  Then I got passed onto the project management team, which is were the trouble began.  Nearly two weeks after the sales team were in my home, I had never heard from the project coordinator.  I call the South LA office to see what was going on.  I immediately got attitude from whomever answered the phone and I told her I wanted to talk to the manager.  She got on the phone and had no idea what was going on, so I explained the whole thing again and told her I just wanted to cancel the contract.  She informed me that it was pass the time frame allowed to cancel, which was true, however she went on to explain how my counter-top had been ordered.  I was truly confused and upset as I told her no one has been to my place to get accurate measurements.  I was apologized to and told that the projector coordinator would be following my project closely.

I rarely heard from the project manager, which according to Sears is behind you every step of the way.  I had to make all the phone calls and only truly I dealt with the sub-contractors.  I had to take numerous long lunches and use vacation days in order to accommodate the many people that had setup appointments for the tedious process of get counter-tops.  There was a representative that came to my house to inspect the cabinets to ensure that they would not be damaged, another to remove the old counter-tops, another to do the measuring, two guys to install the new cabinets, someone different to do the plumbing.  There was a total of eight different people in my home to install a kitchen counter-top over a month period.

I would not and will not recommend the Sears Home Improvement Services ever again.  I knew going into the project that I was paying a premium to have Sears install the counter-tops.  I could have gotten much less expensive counter-tops at numerous places, but I was okay spending more to have someone manage the project for me.  Well, I paid a premium and I managed the project myself.  I have called numerous times to get someone to mail to me the survey that is promised at the completion of the installation.  I still have yet to receive it even though it has been almost six months since the install.

I am happy with the product and the installation of the product, however, the amount of time out of my schedule and frustration was not worth the hassle.  In addition, I do not recommend these services to single women.  Like I mentioned previously, there were a total of eight different people in my home.  I don't know many women that would feel comfortable letting that many people into their homes.  All of the sub-contractors were nice and professional, but never the less you are letting strangers into your home.

In closing, save yourself the agony, time and money and find your kitchen remodeling services elsewhere.

Why would anyone want to be subed out, Its always extra ears and loss of translation and more cost and time to the home owner. Go direct to specaillized countertop installer which would already be cerified and knowleagable in his trade.

Agree totally with this customer. I have had a very similar experience.
It's been 5 months and my small kitchen is still not finished, plagued by errors caused by Sears having no attention to detail, no oversight, no project management - all which was promised when we were sold this kitchen remodeling. I have photos and full documentation of each issue we faced. I too had to project manage this myself. We as well went to Sears knowing we were paying so much more for this small kitchen remodeling expecting to receive what they promised by way of their project management. There was no project management at all. I had to coordinate the schedules of each of the installers and even had to document the issues each day with photos and e-mails.
Do it yourself! Save yourselves time, money and aggravation.

We are currently looking for Sears, senior, high level executives who can rectify this situation immediately. Any suggestions?
This would be very valued.
We just want to close this chapter and put it behind us.
Thank you!
Never again! I could not recommend this Sears service to anyone.
