My wife and I bought the LG 3001 series washer and dryer (each reviewed separately here) a couple of weeks ago. The pedestals were not delivered with the machines because of a color mix up, so I set them up at first without the pedestals.
The machines being front loaders, make you bend over quite a bit to load and unload clothing from both the washer and dryer. I got the pedestals delivered and set up yesterday, and let me tell you: What a difference! The pedestals bring the Washer and dryer up to comfortable heights, especially the doors of these appliances. I rated the pedestal in reference to the convenience and comfort they give, plus the fact that they seem substantially constructed. They are very expensive, though, at $225 dollars or more. In my opinion they are worth it, however.
Also, each pedestal has a large drawer that holds lots of laundry stuff: detergent, bleach, softener sheets, etc. The inside height of each drawer is a little shy of allowing some items to stand upright, though. Even so, they give you lots of storage. I think the manufacturers of these appliances should give the pedestals for free. I think anybody thats taller than 5 foot 0 inches really needs the extra 14 inch height these give.
