LG 22.4 cu. ft. Bottom Freezer Refrigerator (LBC22520S) —
After much research of the reviews on the top refrigerators, I opted for the LG 22520 bottom freezer. Consumer Research, Sears, and ****** all had great reviews. I also wanted to get the Samsung 25.4 french-door, which had great reviews as well. The deciding factor was when a Sears salesman mentioned it was about the same size motor on both and they would last about the same length of time. Knowing that, I could not justify spending $500 more for a few extra conveniences.
I did not want the freezer drawer since a few mentioned the ice falls out of the container when opening the drawer if the container is full. When I opened another LG freezer drawer at the store, I could see how that would happen. Case solved-order the freezer door option (cheaper too).
There is ample space in the refrigerator and freezer and I was able to neatly organize where I wanted things. The door containers are shifted easily and hold many more bottles than our old side-by-side. The ice-maker is quiet, and produces ample ice for our family of 5. Not having a water dispenser was a plus for us; the extra fridge space was prefered. Although the temp settings are only at the half-way mark, our milk is much colder than our other two refrigerators when they were at the coldest settings.
If this refrigerator goes on sale, you do want to act fast. It was available in our area initially, but the warehouse emptied before the sale was over. Since the internet was slower at getting the price adjusted up again after the sale, I continued to watch it until the refrigerator was available in our area again. I went to the store and had the salesman look it up online to confirm availability and the lower price. The Sears salesman was able to still give me the sale price!
Finally, when the delivery guys brought the refrigerator, they mentioned how they do not have near as many LG refrigerators being replaced because of defects. They were both very clear that LG was their choice at this time. It confirmed what the reviewers were saying already-I got a great refrigerator.
