I am a student looking for something cheap! I just need to be able to research and write papers. (and update facebook!) I don't have room in my apartment for a desktop but I don't wanna spend too much. Is just buying the cheapest laptop availible a bad idea?

By a Netbook ASUS seems to be the best out there so far, Get Windows XP (the full version), not Windows7 Starter (its the watered down version of 7)

Make sure you ask for a student discount on your OS, microsoft gives students discounts on their programs.
